Hi, my grandfather is a stroke survivor but he lost ability to speak clear and he can’t move his right hand anymore. So, how you determine how bad stroke is?

Stroke usually effects one part of the body, leaving it paralyzed or with great impairment of motion. Weakness is another consequence of stroke. Sometimes not whole side is effected but only leg or arm, and these cases are considered to be milder. Coordination and balance can be damaged to , so person even loses ability to stand or walk although muscles are strong. Dysarthria is commonly seen in persons who know the right word but can not pronounce them clearly. Worse case is having trouble with understanding speech or writing or not being able to think of the words to speak or write.
