hi guys, so today i received a phone call from my local health department saying that they got my lab results back from my urine sample and apparently i test “positive” for chlamydia. i haven’t been sexually active since april of 2016 which has been almost 2 years now. back in may of this year (2017) i had to go to my dr to get a pap smear (keep in my mind this is back when i had health insurance and got to see my normal dr). i got my lab results back in less than a week and she said that everything came back normal! so unfortunately i no longer have my health insurance currently and had to go to my local health department to get on a new birth control. well while i was there i had to do the usual urine sample and i just got a call back about it today. i just don’t understand how someone can test positive for something when i haven’t done anything sexual (including anything oral) in almost 2 years! like this doesn’t just appear out of thin air!
i need answers!
when i told my nurse about this she just said that it was strange and for me to come in and take an std test
It could be possible as a pap test they would just be looking for abnormal cells on the cervix not actually checking for std's
