Look you can't ask questions like " do they do it in my state for probation and what not. No body can answer that , but you will no yourself. Like someone said above they have to test for Methadone specifically. it does not cross react with Opiates. So if they are doing an onsite and it says "MTD" on the testing strip then your getting tested for methadone. If it says "OPI" then no it shouldn't show up

how long does methadone take to get out of my sysem so i can pass a drug test

This may sound strange, but i had an issue keeping methadone in my system, I keept comeing up with nothing in my system when the methadone clinic drug tested me, as they do so offten. Thank god I had a good counselor, whom was willing to help me figure out why I was showing up with less methadone in my system than what the clinic was giveing me (110mg). Simply, we found out that the reson this was happening was due to just simply sitting in the sauna at the gym two or three times a week just sucked it right out of me, unbeleaveablely quick. give it a try, cant hurt. Remember that methadone stores in ur liver, and normally takes 24 to 72 hours to empty liver, but as I stated a sauna will pull it out much faster than 24 to 72 hours.

At the moment I'm on 75mg, have been for few days, I don't feel drowsy and I still feel strongly the need to heroin (what hero?!?!? f*****g loser..) Ive got so many qs... Why does the bottle I'm given methadone with smells like a strong windows cleaner? Why I can't stop feeling the need, how many years will I have to take methadone, but firstly, will I ever come out clean from this shitty story? please contact me if you can cos I need to talk to somebody who knows about it cos has to live with it, contrarily to my doctor ...

I am new to the site, this post really gets me. I've been on a clinic (legal methadone) for more than 14 years...oh yea...that's a long time not a single day goes by that I'm not thankful for it...but curse it too! I spent the majority of my younger years, 20-35 in and out of prison, so I can say with certainty that had it not been for it I'd be either dead...or in prison. It's a very serious double edged sword...taking it and all that comes with it is not for the faint of heart. I swear to all I love and hold dear, I'd MUCH rather kick a heroin habit than a methadone habit. The duration of heroin withdrawals is very short compared to, what feels like a life time, methadone.
I know it helped me at a time in my life when I needed it most, don't misunderstand me please, but I do find it hard to be an advocate for it.
At first the cost seems insignificant compared to using dope everyday, but as the years go by, things change, you get older, maybe you loose your job, or the significant other in your life dies...looses their job...or ceases to be the significant other in Your life, whatever the cause...the cost becomes a hardship. Believe me, there will come a day in your methadone life that you will...for whatever reason, NOT be able to afford it...that's when it will all changes for you. It won't matter that you have so many years of faithful paying...you will now be detoxed..no matter what dose, be it 10 milligrams or 500 (and yes there are people on that high a dose even higher at my clinic) and it will be concluded in 30 days. This is fact, because unless you have somehow managed to get on a 'state' clinic, because private clinics do not medicate without money. Hey, it's what makes the world go round!
I have also discovered the employment thing...most all employers these days are going to test you, every single job that I have applied for in the past 6-8 years does, the extra cost for a few more panels is nothing if they can discover your secrets. BUT....if you are on a clinic, taking it legally then you really don't have anything to worry about, two things come to mind, first...if you're on a clinic, then they CAN'T tell...you are prescribed it by a doctor...they have to give you a chance to prove you're taking it legally, BEFORE they call the prospective employer, secondly, (most important) where I'm from Illinois, methadone is included in the Americans with disabilities Act so if a prospective employer finds out you're on it or tested positive for it...you have two options, sue the employer for discrimination against you and/or sue the testing company for disclosing the information in the first place! PLEASE NOTE...you have to be on a legal clinic to be afforded these options. I do know that...at least here you can not operate a vehicle, like bus driver, or get a cdl if you're on it. Some states it's different, but here that's how it is. Also you most likely are prohibited from working is a hospital/medical facility, like a nurse or Doctor (I mean...if I was in the hospital waiting on my pain meds for some type of surgery I wouldn't want a sick addicted person to be bringing it to me cuz I just might not get it all or get is at all!) See the connection there!?
Check the laws in your state I'm pretty sure that the Americans with Disabilities Act is nation wide. But you MUST be able to PROVE this is the reason that you were fired...or not hired! Like a letter saying that you flunked the test because of the positive results, and something that I've picked up on is this...it's very hard to get that documentation because usually the company that ordered the tests to begin with...well, and here's the catch, they paid for it...so the results....Belong to them...good luck getting your hands on it.
I have been trying to detox for many years...it's a very painful thing, especially the older I get. I must say to anyone reading this that I have remained clean of anything..except weed, (gotta do something) for going on the better part of 12 years...I don't even know anyone that deals it, nor do I want to...but it has taken many years to come to this point in not only my life but in my mind as well. As so many of us know it's not what we wanted to be when we grew up, but it got us...for whatever reason, and got us hard. We've disappointed our families, our friends and all that know us well enough to know! It slowly becomes the secret that gets out and out of control!
Whoever said life is good never experienced methadone!
I pray you are able to find gainful employment, get detoxed or get to whatever place you need/want to be at this moment in your life.
Good Luck !

Hi- i've been on methadone for a year now and i'm on 220mg. i've relapsed twice (when the clinic closed before i got there, which is the price you pay for living in manhattan and relying on traffic) once on 150mg and once on 220mg and when i got tested on 150mg for opiates it came up negative after 3 days and after 220 mg it still showed up positive after a week..

is the higher mg your on mean that opiates will stay in your stystem longer??

just curious because my parents don't believe that i'm not using (since my second relapse was 1 week ago) but i really haven't used!!! they don't believe me because the last time i failed i passed after 3 days, but i swear on everything and anything i really haven't touched/been around/used anything since then and it's still showing up positive!!! btw my metabolism is very slow, and i haven't been using the bathroom as much, could that have something to do with it??

thanks!

I am taking vicadon, and occassionally Methadone. When the Dr. check my vicadon level and pill count, the Methadone always shows up. even if I had not taken any for a month. Luckily at least one job the Methadone didn't show up, but that was two years ago. I am having problems with a DR. Prescription getting a job. Coming up positive at least for the vicadon. I had to take a Job drug test today, the clinic is in a hospital. They only chose the DAS-SN. Not the panel. So praying!!! Question, finally, does it matter where the test is taken? I live in Oregon.
thanx for any info. %-)

You can look on-line at different web sites that will tell you that opiates will be out of your system after 5 days. Not true. It can stay in your system for several weeks depending on the dosage, how often you use, how long you use, your rate of metabolism, your activity level and your health. This information is on the web on several professional sites. My boyfriend tested dirty for opiates that he had not used for 24 days. However he had been on them for years at high doses. He also holds alot of fluid because of other medication that he is on--I suspect that may be the reason he tested dirty after such a long time. That and the fact that he had been a steady user. Also, different facilities use tests of different sensitivity. Obviously the more sensitive, the more likely the drug use is going to show up. As I said there are alot of variables involved. I know someone else that swore that he had not used for 30 days but still came up dirty. I believe him because he didn't have any reason to lie. He had been a chronic heroin user. He slipped and it showed up. My advise is that if you can avoid it do not use anything you're not suppose to use if you are going to get tested. If you have used, you can attempt to drink lots of fluids a couple of days before your test. That is the only thing that will probably work. Remember the more you use and the more frequent the more likely that it will show up.

I took 60mg of methadone a day for two years for chronic pain and never got a UA. during that two years i never deviated from my dosage or did any street drugs, until a few months ago when i was at a party and smoked some weed with my friends. So of course as luck would have it 3 days later when I went in to get my script they handed me a cup and told me to go pee. Two years no test and no other drugs and then they both converged within three days, what luck right? Anyway I had my son with me and he peed for me so when the test came back it was negative for methadone, which I didnt even think to consider that they were testing me for the drug they were prescribing. I tried making up a story about doing a 10 day cleanse and they said even still that methadone has an incredibly long half life and should stay in my system for 30 days. They also went on to tell me that when people test positive for marijuana they just test them again to make sure its not a regular occurrence but since I came up negative for methadone they assumed I was selling it not taking it. Well I was taking it and was cut off cold turkey and it has been a week and a half since my last dose and I feel just as miserable as when this first started and the pain that I was taking it for in the first place is back with a vengance. I dont know why I'm writing all this, maybe sum1 can learn from my story, or maybe its more for therapy for myself. I guess its because I have read tons of these threads and everyone seems to think that methadone doesn't show after 7 days or so when I was told by my pain management specialist that its more like 30 days. I assume that is for long term users but still if you're trying to get a job and you are taking methadone without a prescription then I would stop taking it a month before you would be put in the position to be screened for any drugs... especially in this messed up economy. I hope this helps at least one person. Good luck to everyone out there dealing with this drug, its fantastic for pain management but goddamn I almost would have rather dealt with my pain for the last two years than go thru cold turkey withdrawals. Just some friendly advice, be careful and make sure taking the drug is worth it before you get hooked or lose a job opportunity because of it.

I would definitely say if you are screening for a parole test, they will test for EVERYTHING....I'd really advise you not to do that sh*t when you're on parole dude. Thats a little risky....Now people on probation I understand, they won't go to Prison...lol. Jail isn't as bad.
Anyway, I have a drug screen coming up November 29th..I plan on quitting everything 2 weeks ahead of time. I should be completely clean since I'm giving myself two weeks. But, My problem is that I Just had a job interview today, most likely they will be calling me back Thursday and I assume I'll have to piss Thursday or Friday. So I stopped doing methadone today...What should I do to speed things up to make sure I don't have it in my system?

I have to show up methadone in my urine because Im on pain management but I used illicit drugs so I used my mothers urine and put methadone in it. I saw the coolors on the bottle say invalid and now it is at the lab. I dont think Im going to get away with this one. They measure the methadone to make sure Im taking it.

So many of these posts are flat out WRONG. Methadone shows up as an OPIATE because it is an OPIATE. Even though it is synthetic... itwll show up as an opiate. I am a pharmacist... so either believe a professional or all the dumbasses writing on this forum
