My dog is 11 1/2 He was dignose with cushing disease. I am not to sure how far ahead is the deasise but he does not look very sick yet. I am quite concern about the medicine the vet prescribe which is the same one use in humans for parkison. I have read that this med has a lot of side effects. I need some advice. 1 how long is the life expectancy of a dog with cushing. He has other health issues like hypothiroid a hard murmur and a little bit of a brathing problem (which sound like ashma.) We just lost our other dog last year and would not like to lost this one so soon. However I would not like to make him suffer by giving him medication that contain such a nasty siide eefct. Can some body advice me aabout other treatment? Or shoudl I start this medication right away. I will really apprciate any advice Thanks, Aurora

I am so sorry, the same thing happened to us. We lost our sheltie and a year later our boxer was first diagnosed with cushings. He had to drink all the time and pee all the time and had almost no control when he had to pee. We tried to control his water intake but he started searching the house for water, looking for it anywhere he could find it. Try the medication as soon as you can, I hope things work out for your dog. We did have to put ours down - so lost our 14 year old boxer just a bout a year after our 12 year old sheltie. Best of luck.
