I'm just guessing that beta blockers won't help if cardioversion didn't help I know because it didn't help me they just slow your heart beat down they block the adrenaline and cause less stress on your heart. I just found this site my name is Lorraine. I'm looking for answers also. I'm not saying anyone is right or wrong I'm just trying to help with my experience of what I went through.

Wait, are you saying you had 41 cardioversions in three years? Oh my gosh, nothing else works for me either. I don't even know if I can get catheter ablation I'm going to get CAT scan on my heart and then find out if I'm able to get a catheter ablation. They said I'm one of the bad cases and I may need three ablations but they don't know if I'm even illegible they don't know if my heart is strong enough.

I have had seven cardioversions in 12 months. Just discovered that the vertebrae is in the neck can put pressure on the nerve to the heart. Fixing it can be very helpful in correcting heart arrhythmias. Very low down side. If it doesn't work no great loss. Whereas ablations tend to be irreversible.

I think the percentage developing AFIB (after having that surgery) might be much higher than 25%.

Recently, there was a story in the news from the DC metro area about a woman who had been treated for Covid-19 and cleared. However, after being cleared, her symptoms worsened and she was hospitalized, but went down hill quickly. In her story, she says that after being shocked by doctors 29 times, she was pronounced dead by doctors. However, as a family member was with her to say good-bye, a nurse wet her lips and the patient woke up. I am glad that it was a happy ending for all, but my question is it possible to be shocked 29 times before a code being called? I have worked in the medical field and even an ER in the past and have seen doctors try a combination of drugs, CPR and shocks for a period of time, but never witnessed anyone ever being shocked that many times. Therefore, is it possible? Thank you!

I have had an ablation which included atria as well as pulmonary vein portals, and it has held beautifully for 5 mths. BUT, have more recently picked up ventricular tachycardia and my EP tried to "map" it, but heart wouldn't stay lit long enough. In the end, they had to use cardio-conversion "multiple times" to get me back into a sinus rhythm and now on a new med (#5 & after almost a week, not working very well) and then will probably either try to map again or go to Sotalol which is a 3 day inpatient infusion and then oral. Reportedly, this has been excellent for folks like myself. I strongly suggest trying ablation---general anesthesia, over night inpatient, then home with blood thinner, no limits on anything after about a week.
