hi people im a 17 year old lad and since i was 12 iv noticed i had these foredyce spots on my penis. at first i was soooo embarrassed every time i thought of sex. i felt embarrassed but you wont have to be because since then i have had 3 sexual partners and just got out of an 18 month relationship my ex partner never noticed it until i told her about it and she wasn't bothered by it at all. but then some girls don't say anything about it. i would like to get rid of them but there is no cure so i just bite the bullet an get on with the important things in life. so just relax and don't let it get u down :-)

ps: does any one know whether is hereditary?

Yeah I remember when I got MY first fordyce spot. Ha, I thought it was a pimple, so i squeezed the sh*t out of it. The skin wouldn't break so I got a needle and lanced it, and then squeezed it. It bled, it oozed, it hurt like a b***h but the spot was still there. A week later I had em everywhere; shaft, sack, the whole region. Scared the sh*t out of me.

One drunken night my friends saw them for a mere second and now they all say I've got herpes. I wasn't really sure myself, but now I know! You'll seriously get over them, but it's such a shame reading about how so many people have stressed over it, and let it taint there teenage hood. They should seriously teach this sh*t in Sex Ed, seeing as it would easily save some people years of doubt and shame.

I can honestly say these little bumps have ruined my life, i got them around 15 and a half, shortly after my first sexuall act. I got horrified i thought it was herpies or warts i didnt know. I shut myself out from everyone really and got super anti social. I began to put my energy other places and get into alot of trouble, i con honestly say that this infection or watever you guys wna call it has caused my life to go downward however not untell recently when i actually manned up and went to a clinic and got checked out to see exactly what it was because i noticed it didnt look like other stds i saw on the internet. The nurse let me know it was not a STD and it was a normal thing she though it might of been jock itch or some B/S she just told me to go get some jock itch cream and it would most likely go away in 2-4 months. However i ended doing a little more research still and thats when i fell upon these postings and found the fordyces spot on wikipedia and i am 99.9% sure its that and not some jock itch like sure said. Because i have had this steady for almost 4 years now. Im just now getting over it taking someone elses advice that posted and just said f**k it and explained to my GF the situation and she took it alot better then i thought and i feel alot more comfortable. However i mean i know some doctor or nurse has had to read some of these post and you can see how badly this thing is effecting young people some who arent even old enough to go to a clinic or have never had sex. There has got to be some way to get rid of it or almost totally take it down i have read a few myths about some acne cream and something else 2.5% but no one ever wrights back and says "Yea it works DO IT" or "No it didnt work", So maby it worked and they said they dont needa check this website anymore lol. I would like to hear from a professional or someone who has had results getting rid of it on what they did, thanks.

Yeh, I share the common story: noticed em about 13 years old. Have had them for several years. Used to be terribly depressed over them/constantly thought of suicide. I stayed up too many nights to count trying to get rid of them. it was pretty tragic. I thought I had some STD and felt I didn't deserve them. And yeah, they should teach this in sex Ed. It's nice to know lots of others suffer from this. Who knows what to do...I'm Considering subjecting the area to direct sunlight for a few minutes every day, I'll post back with results.

Guys heres the deal. You want to get rid of them? DONT
1) Find a nice wonderful girl who actually cares about you.
2) Tell her if you're so worried.
3) Have fun.

My girlfriend and I are sexually active. Been going out for 1 year, 7 months. I just recently asked her if she ever even noticed the fact that I had bumps all over my penis. She just said 'what are you talking about? I thought that was normal'. Guys, girls probably won't even pay attention to them. They aren't inspecting your penis. They are not a big deal.

Heres why theyre a good thing. Ever see a dildo? Alot of them are made with bumps on the shaft. Why? Ever see ribbed or textured condoms? Why would they use this? CAUSE IT FEELS BETTER TO A WOMAN. You, my friends, will grow up and probably find a woman and give her some of the greatest feeling sex of her life.

Don't be afraid or self conscious. Don't show guys. Guys are assholes and if its different, its bad to them. I used to be self conscious til I just went for it. Now no girl ever sees them as a problem.

Good luck!

well, about retin-a, to me it didn't help at all... I've started to put that on my penis because my doctor said that it could reduce or minimize those little bumps, but nothing happened... Then, i was getting frustrated and I started to put more and more of retin-a. DON'T DO THAT. Then, one night I could barely sleep because my penis was like humoungosly itchy , it was really awful... If you want to put retin-a just put it about 3/4 times per week... Anyway, I went to the doctor and he said that nothing wrong was happening with me, it was just a normal biologic reaction, but I'm still worried and embarassed by having these "Fordyce Spots". I mean, I'm 16 and I never had sex cuz I'm always afraid that girls may mock me :S
I'm really down with this , what should I do now ? i wonder if you guys could help me telling me what to do now ...

well I have read I think everyone's post on this site as I have been afflicted with it as long as I can remember. I'm now 21. I've prolly had 10 sex partners and none of them have ever mentioned but I'm still super subconscious about it, even with my gf of over 3 years.

On the bright side, I found this medication that claims to work. To be honest I have spent much of my life depressed about this and so the risk of $40 is well worth the trial. Ill give it a shot and let you know my results.

i used tretinoin, and it does make them smaller, but be warned if you use too much it will cause temporary redness, irritation , and pain on the penis

I'm 27 years old and ive had these little lumps as long as i can remember. They're all over my balls and half way up the base of the shaft too. I always wondered about them but never found any info until today. The only reason i googled this is because of watching some porn where the guy was smooth (no homo) and it made me wonder.

I've slept with over 40 girls and had some long term relationships (3years plus) and not one single girl has ever commented on them because they obviously don't care one bit about them. A previous poster mentioned that some dildo's have bumps at the bottom which is true and women pay for those things.

Just want to advise any teens reading this who maybe aren't very experienced with women or still very much obsessed with their own looks etc. Not too worry about it and if anything it probably gives you an advantage, those little lumps will feel good for a woman and save you a fortune in ribbed condoms as you're ribbed (for the ladies' pleasure) naturally.

i have finally found out what these bumps are. i've had them for a really long time, ever since i can remember. i went to the doctor today and he said they will stay with me forever, they are not dangerous or contagious. I did farther research and my mom works at a dermatologist therefore any type of cream that ANYONE has found helpful please let me know and i can get it for myself. i just started Artalin or Atralin i forget but it has Tretinoin. I will post back if anything happens. but seriously, anybody with any advice of cream, just give me a brand name.

I'm 18 and had them for about 6 years. I've always wondered what they were, and I have been searching the Internet for a good few years, never finding the exact symptoms until today. I have been getting so depressed over them, thinking I was the only person, I have sometimes considered suicide or becoming asexual lol, but that all feels stupid now over something so insignificant.

However regardless I still want to get rid or reduce them, there are tons of them and it still looks ugly. So I'm going to try the Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5% gel that is used for acne, some people here have come back with improvements, and since this product is cheap and readily available, I might as well try it.

But this topic has been a massive confidence booster, my self esteem has been really low, been rejecting potential relationships, parties, any socialising because of these damn spots. But feel a lot more reassured now. :-)

I have those thing too :-(

I'm 18 and had them since... 13 or something like that.

They've never hurt but i've never told anyone. :$
I was seriously afraid it's herpes or some other std. I've never had sex but those school toilets made me wonder... %-)

Now i found out about the fordyce thing and it's exactly what i have. I'm glad it's safe and not an STD.

I'm glad i'm not the only one. Phew!
I've been stressed about it like all my life. What a release. :-)
