Wow, I'm not sure if I'm relieved or not to have discovered what this is. I'm also wondering if it's normal to get this on your head? I have it on my lips and on my penis, I have hundreds of them unfortunately. I don't mind them but I could definitely live without them. But I'm at least a little relieved to know what it is. I seem to continue getting them though, they just advance up my shaft D : I'd very much like it to stop and have read in the previous topic that cutting caffeine out helps. Think my new years resolution is definitely going to be related towards removing caffeine and sweets out of my life completely

Im 15 and i have had these spots for a number of years and thought a lot about them and how its embarrasing. I dont like to try and get involved with sex because im scared of what other will think and how rumours will spread aroud school. I am embarrsed to go to my doctor but i know i have to at some point but atleast im not alone , i thought i was. My fordyce spots seem to disappear ( Still visible ) and less of them then come back again they are really annoying. I have had a girl touch me and pull ;-) but i still had my trousers on so she couldnt see. Thanks for sharing your opinions and making me feel better

Yo, I'm 23 and have had these spots since I was 14... a freshmen in high school... I am now out of college and still have them... I have literally tried tons of stuff to get rid of them... nothing has ever worked the way I wanted it to. In all the sexual experiences Ive had, I've never heard one word from any girl. However, I'm still determined to get rid of them... cause there are literally 100's of them are are all over my penis and balls and about 50 of them are on my upper and lower lips... it sucks so bad... but there are way worse things to have...
I think because I always did 3 sports in high school and sports through college, with all the sweat, it made things worse... and that also meant girls were always trying to get on me... sometimes I could man up and do it (I went to the doctor and they said I was okay for business--I recommend this for piece of mind but that didn't relieve my embarrassment) and sometimes I couldn't out of embarrassment... I have been to 4 dermatologists about them and they have all said the same thing... its natural and just live with it... I don't buy that, but I am prepared to do so if it comes to that.... here is what I have tried:
NONE of this worked for me:
Acne treatments from benzol to that tetricyclin sh*t didn't work
Acid treatments from 2% salicylic to 10% just hurt
Oxyclear and Stridex didn't work
Scrubbing does work some.
Shaving your junk is lame but works a bit to keep it clean.
I have been alone on this journey my whole life but just found this thread and am seriously relieved I found it... for more piece of mind for me and so I can save some other guys from hours of wasted time and wondering. I read every post and found that these may have worked for some---I haven't tried any but I'm going to...
"Duac"
"Jojoba Oil"
"Exfoliation"
"Tea Tree Oil"
"Tooth paste" haha, I doubt I'll try this, but hey, if it works I'll be the first to brush my teeth and penis everyday (with different brushes haha)
I also stumbled upon a product called Anti-Sebum... I have no idea about this product, but there site looks interesting, I may try it and if I do I'll let you know.
Sorry for the book, but if you are like me, you want to know any useful info about this situation cause although its not the worst thing, I still get embarrassed... and SEE A DOCTOR BEFORE YOU TAKE ANYONE'S WORD on this... then go out on your own if you need to, but I am personally going to ask my Derma about all these possible remedies before going to far with any of them... if for no other reason that he can tell some other kid more than, "Its natural, just deal..."
...peace...

Hey man what happened with Anti-sebum? Does it affect the spots? I am really looking forward to hear from you, if it works I will order it right away :)

I have some of these spots, as well, didn't even really give them a second thought when I was a teen. Now, in my mid-20s for some reason they bother me more. I guess I've had time to think about it. Anyway, so I have tried a few remedies, as well, and have not been entirely successful but here is what I know.
Yes, a doctor will just tell you to be quiet and come back when you really are sick.
Next, fordyche spots were actually called "follicles" by my dermatologist, not because hair sprouts from them, but because of what makes them react. They will pop out when you're cold, similar to goose bumps. Keep your skin moist. Shower two times a day in warm water, and when you're done put on some Jojoba oil (cheaply available through Amazon.com). This will help nourish your skin cells as the day goes on. Also, and this is very important for many guys out there, if you're worried about sexual appearance, you can use jojoba oil as a lube. While masturbating before sex, as most men do, use jojoba oil and make sure there is still a residue on your penis when you're done. This isn't guaranteed to work, but should help at least a little.
There is no way to get rid of these spots (or follicles) except with some surgery a couple have referenced, but let's face it, that is not an option for most nor is it probably even worth it. Subtle bumps are not even a big deal so your goal should be simply to limit them and that is very possible to do.
It doesn't seem to me that I have these spots as bad as some people do, but they still bother me plenty. So, this is what I've discovered; I hope it helps anyone who might stumble onto this post. In the end, just like with penis size, you probably care more about it than your girlfriend/wife does. Also, for the women who have complained of having these spots (and, yes, I've seen it and know it can happen to them), you shouldn't worry either. They really are just goosebumps as far as I'm concerned.
Lastly, I will tell you all what I think about the common remedies going around the message boards...
a) scrubbing in the shower with soap does seem to have a small after-shower effect that is positive.
b) acne medicines don't seem to work on fordyche spots
c) i would never recommend exfoliation or anything more harsh on the sensitive skin of your penis. You do not want to damage your nerves or roughen the skin in any way.
d) I have never tried tea tree oil but I see it is more expensive than jojoba, as is anti-sebum, so I will stick to the jojoba because it is organic, safe, and effective enough considering you can't really get rid of these bumps permanently. They always come back!

I cant be sure how long ive had these but for ages ive thoguht i had minor warts and have been to shy/frightend to tell anyone or see someone bout it then i stubbled across these frodyce spots and i knew instant its what i got. but while researching the fordyce spots i noticed tee tree oil was suggested to be helpfull so i thought before going to a doctor id try it out.
so...
I cut off a bit of a cotton pad soaked in tee tree oil and strapped it to one the spots for a few hours.
ALOT ! of stinging & very unpleasant
but when i ripped it off id burnt the skin ( and hopefully the spot to) and have not got a scab on my penis.
i dunno if this works im waiting for the skin to heal but im really willing to try anything to get rid of them.
Has anyone seen a doctor and gotten advice ?? or a treatment??

I've had these since about the age of 17, they developed when I started, out of the blue, getting really bad acne. I was prescribed ro-accutane for my acne and they totally disappeared along with the acne. They gradually came back, as did the acne, but not as bad. I eventually went back on ro-accutane and they went again. They came back though like before and so did the acne. I went on ro-accutane for a third time but at alot lower dose and the acne and fordyce spots both went. About 8 months ago I could tell the ro-accutane had pretty much left my system as my fordye spots returned, together with a few acne spots. However, the fordyce spots are now alot worse. Before, they were just white spots under the surface that didn't bother me because they were hardly noticeable. The fordye spots I have now, consist of the white, hardly noticeable, under the surface spots, but also red, raised spots that are hard and a lot more prominent. They look like this :(
The other ones that are less prominent, the ones I've always had, look like this
Not sure why they are now coming to the surface but they look c**p!
