They have been so beneficial to me. The members have a wealth of information! I got allergy tested (environmental) & was found to be allergic to 95% of the allergens. I started the allergy shots but after a few weeks decided that the shots were just a bandaid. During this time I switched from an MD to a Naturopath. He tested me for food allergies & I was allergic to 2/3 of the foods. I immediately stopped dairy/wheat/gluten/corn/sugar & more. I had suffered with sinus infections for years and years. After the diet change I went an entire winter without getting sick! I have leaky gut syndrome which causes constant inflammation throughout the body. The Naturopath said it could take a couple of years to heal the gut. I'm already reaping the benefits of the dietary change. As for supplements this is what I take: Green tea capsules (5 a day), Turmeric (4 capsules), Cayenne pepper (1 capsule), Freeze dried nettles (4 capsules a day just when my allergies are bothering me), Aller-CQ (4 a day when my allergies are bad). I haven't had to take nettles or the aller-cq for months! I really believe dairy is a big cause of inflammation along with wheat/gluten.

I would have to disagree, I am a patient who has really bad polyps, i have had sinus surgery three times within the last 10 years and after each surgery my polyyps have returned, ive even been on and off prednisone and flonase, which are steroids to help with the healing but as soon as i slow down or try to get off the polyps come right back. there are different outcomes for different people.

I have been battling nasal polyps for 7 years...I have had two surgery's and they grow back a year after surgery! Doctors don't want to go in again and remove them so they have put me on Polmicort it is a liquid steroid. it seems to help to calm the symptoms down but don't remove them... Good luck

My boyfriend has had sinus polyps for years. I did some research and we found that Curcumin is a natural anti-inflammatory. He takes it with pepperine because that helps the body digest it, without the pepperine it would only absorb 2% of the pill he takes. He also takes Omega fish oil to help absorb as well. We are about to add Quercetin with a large dose of Vitamin A and 1000 mg Vitamin C. I hope this helps him the poor guy is always saying he can't breathe. So maybe these natural options will benefit the same without the side effects of prednisone. He has taken that in the past and it works great but the side effects make me nervous.

The #1 cause of polyps (especially if your polyps come back quickly after surgery and if you developed asthma as an adult) is something called Samter's Triad or AERD). There are all kinds of things being tried for this, and it is nice to know that someone finally found out what is going on with all of the strange things that different doctors have found. These are the things that made my doctor think that I had AERD, but not every patient has exactly the same symptoms: 1) nasal polyps that came back after surgery and always took away smell, 2) asthma that started after I was 30 years old, 3) weird reactions to aspirin and ibuprofen, 4) wheezing and sneezing after drinking wine or beer, 5) a lot of eosinophil cells in my blood. They recommended aspirin desensitization or there are some new drugs now too. My doctor is at the AERD center at BWH in Boston and their site is really helpful.
