Hello, I'm 13, and I only cut once in my life about a week ago. They're more like three parallel deep cat scratch looking on the middle of my lower arm, but I have no cat. Now they're healing but still have scabs and it's summer and I'm so scared my parents will find out. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!! I never wear bracelets and I have tried concealer- doesn't change much. Thank you!! Please save me, and please don't say 'it's bad for you' because I won't do it again okay???

Hi, guest.

It sounds like you're feeling scared and alone right now, and it's important to know that you're not alone and there are people who can help.

First and foremost, please consider talking to a trusted adult about what you're going through. This could be a parent, a teacher, a school counselor, or another family member. It can be really scary to think about opening up, but having the support of someone you trust can make a big difference. They can help you find the right resources and support to cope with whatever is causing you distress.

If you're worried about the physical aspect of the scars, there are a few things you can try. Long-sleeve light shirts or arm covers can be a way to cover your arms in a way that doesn't attract too much attention during the summer. If you're comfortable with it, you could also try wearing bracelets or watches that might cover the area, even if you don't usually wear them. However, it's important to remember that covering up is a temporary solution, and getting to the root of what led you to harm yourself is what will help in the long run.

Remember, self-harm is often a sign of underlying emotional distress, and it's really important to address these feelings with a professional who can provide the appropriate care and support. There's no shame in asking for help – it's a brave and important step towards feeling better.

If you're not ready to talk to someone you know, there are confidential helplines and online resources available for young people going through tough times. They can offer support and guidance on how to cope with difficult emotions in healthier ways.

Please take care of yourself, and remember that reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. You deserve to feel better and to have the support you need.

Take care and reach us out anytime you want.
