However, in some cultures, an intact hymen is considered 'proof' of virginity. A girl with a ruptured hymen is then considered to have lost her virginity as she has lost her hymen.
Hymens vary. Some are tough; some are fragile. Some can be partially ruptured. Some are ruptured in sports and horse-riding. Some are damaged in medical exams.
