Hi, I have my first race in two days and I as usual (being a elementary school teacher) came down with a sore throat and general aches and pains today. My question for those with more experience-- is there anything I can do to help me push through this? I have every intention of racing on Sunday, but if there is any magic mo-jo out there I could be informed of, I'd be quite thankful!
There is nothing you can really do apart from the usual lots of rest and maybe crunching down a few ibuprofens before the race.

To be fair, if you really aren't feeling great on the day then you probably shouldn't run as you will either do yourself some damage or run the race slowly and really frustrate yourself. There will be other races other days.

I'd drink lots of orange juice as well as some of those dissolving tablets that contain vitamin c and zinc. I'd also take some cough medicine and drink plenty of water and get plenty of sleep. The day of the race, I'd evaluate yourself and ask yourself if you are up for running the whole race. Don't run if you feel too sick or are too congested.
