hey everyone! So I am 25 and I started suffering from embarrassing stomach noises since I was 17 and I went to so many doctors, had the colonoscopy and all that jazz. The best thing you can do is to take probiotics and find out if you have food allergies...most likely you are damaging your gut with certain foods. I found out that I was allergic to dairy, wheat/gluten, eggs and soy, get yourself tested, trust me, its worth it! I also suffered from anxiety over it, especially in college, even scored poorly in some classes because of it. I wish I knew then what I knew now because my stomach issues are gone now! Exercise, relaxation, probiotics and avoiding foods that I'm sensitive to is what saved me. Good luck.

Thank God there are other people who suffer from this. im 17 and have had bad stomach noises for around 2 years. it seems to happen whenever i think about it(which makes me worry if its just phsycological), because i then start to panic and my heart races, especially in quiet classrooms and i have no idea how to combat it. the worst thing is now i have anxiety fears whenever i know im going to be in a quiet room.I feel sick with worry. even now i feel petrified because our school is going to a history lecture tomorrow and itll last for around 2 hours. i had exams not too long ago and it was the most stressful time. i was almost as worried about my stomach noises as i was about the actual test paper! my grades have suffered dramatically. i dont know if im allurgic to something but im too embarrassed to go to a doctor incase he tells me its all in my head!as all my friends and family do.
please someone have some good advice and to everyone else who suffers from this i know exactly how you feel x :'(

I've had the same problem since I was a teenager and it got increasingly worse in the past few years (I'm 59 now). I noticed that when I traveled overseas that my stomach/intestines appeared to quiet down and began to question what was different in my diet there than at home. The most noteworthy difference I could pinpoint was that at home I always ate a bowl of cereal in the morning with 2% milk and particularly during the winter months drank milk at times with other meals. Overseas I rarely and sometimes never drank milk. Eliminating milk from my diet has quieted down the noise to a great degree and some days I'm virtually silent. Hope this helps.

Hi, i am suffering from the same problem...not ony it has affected my career but also my relatioships. Its embarrassing for me to even sleep in the same room with my boyfriend because nights are always quiet at homes, it really dont matter if we are at some training session or class room or at home or at dinners or just alone! What matters is, its embarrassing in every situation. I havent yet found the reason why my stomach growls because it growls if its empty or full or whem i am eating, even when i am asleep. My stomach is always upset, i mean i have motions almost everyday and what i have noticed is that usually the food comes out in the same condition as it was before i ate it!!! Nothing is dissolved or broken into pieces. I am even ashamed to go to a doctor. My boyfriend himself is a doctor. Can anyone please help me with this problem...any medicine or way that can help me control this. It feels like it has almost taken away my life from me!!!

As some of you have already observed, the growling problem aggravates when you have had fried meat and/or spicy sauce. I have found some suggestions helpful. My problem however has nothing to do with milk products. I have been having milk products all through my life. I growling has only started in the last 4 months. There are a couple of additional symptoms I have. I have a little irritation in my backside. It is not exacly a pain or an itch but just a mild rubbing kind of sensation. The irritation increases immediately (10-15 minutes) after I have had alcohol. At first I thought it was psychological but I'm convinced it is not. I sometimes have a buring sensation while urinating. Don't know if they are all related...

Hey everyone, I can relate to everyones fears and worries about stomach loudness when it is time to take a test or any other quiet activity... but what has helped me through 7 years of the anxiety is the simple solution of soda, chocolate(snickers), GINGER ALE(very powerful), and pop-tarts or oreos... now I need to find a way to cure my ass from making noises too :-( .. But I can definitely relate to the 17 yr olds' story(2/21/10) .. been there and done that... it sucks.. but I remember my problems were never like this, in middle school I went all day without eating food... but it all started one day when I didnt eat in the morning my sophmore year... runied my life.. ever since it has been in my head that I MUST eat or the noises will happen again..

hey i have had the same problems for about three years now v and dont know what to do about it. Its so imbarrassing when your in the middle of class and it just starts making noises and everyone hears it, especially when its quiet. :$ None of my friends have these problems as far as I know, and my stomach is the only one growling when I sleep over at my friend's house; so I know how you feel. It makes me feel insecure and embarrassed when it decides to go off on its rampage. Ive been praying for awhile about my stomach problems and sometimes it seems to help, but just when I think its actually going away, im in a quiet room again and it starts out of nowhere and surprises me and everyone around me. o.O I am definetly going to continue praying and I really want to start running or something to see if it helps but its not going to be easy with my tight schedule.

Hey guys, I understand your suffering. I went through all of that too!
I used to hate it specially in class.
Believe me I had been suffering of this for years and I have finally found something that works for me:
I went to a Gastroenterologist with suspicion that it might be IBS, he did a Colonoscopy to rule out other problems.
after the procedure, he told me my colon was fine, STRESS is the major trigger, followed by not exercising regularly.
The best thing though:
He gave me Hioscyamine (generic name for Symax)which are godsend. And he told me about Align, which are probiotics you take daily.
These two things have changed my life!!!
I also have been drinking Chamomile teas regularly, they seem to soothe my stomach. and I also take this infusion of Macela tea leafs (I found an on-line store that sells it ***edited by moderator*** web addresses not allowed )
The Hioscyamine basically kind of stops my digestive system for a while, I take it first thing in the morning with breakfast. My stomach is completely quiet for hours. I have been eating Penut butter toast with a chamomile tea for breakfast every day. I also have been praying a lot.
Please, go to your doctor and ask him or her to prescribe you Hioscyamine, they will give you relief. My first prescription has 6 refills but he said to go to him if I needed more. It's been a month since he gave me those and I haven't had a problem since then.
Now, it may be a combination of doing all these things that have helped me get better or just the Hioscyamine along with Align that are doing the job. Give it a try!
Bless you all and hope you find a solution like I did.

guys i feel for you and I'm getting worried because my stomach growls only started 3 weeks ago and i read people complaining about it for years. same thing, i go to university in paris, and i thrive for every noisy background because it covers the embarassing noises my stomach makes. When i pray it goes away for a longer period but always comes back whether my stomach is full, half full or totally empty.. it's a true industry down there even thought every other thing ( bowel movement and other stuff ) is just fine.
I guess I'll put in a word for every one of you when I pray Christ our Redemptor.
courage, et bonne journée! be blessed!

Hi, I'm 15 years old and my stomach growling started a year ago, in my second semester of my freshman year of high school. They lasted all the way till school let out for summer. Then over summer I had absolutely no problems. I got back into school in August as a sophomore and I was completely fine from August till the end of September then 1 day I just had the feeling in one of my quiet classrooms "Oh sh*t, Here we go again"
And my stomach just went right back to stage 1 like my second semester the year before. Ever since that day, my stomach sounds have continued every day in my last 2 periods.
I have no idea what is causing them because I haven't changed anything in my daily life from August till now but for some reason I am the lucky kid who's stomach lets out a f*****g screeching symphony in any quiet rooms and everyone laughs and makes jokes.
I have tried multiple experiments to see what was causing the growling from avoiding milk, to eating eggs for breakfast, to chewing my food very slowly, to taking tiny sips of water
but nothing seems to work.
