I have the exact same thing. I went to the dr and he said it's a form of sinusitis. And told me to inhale steam through one nostril at a time by holding your head over a bowl of boiling water and then a sheet of blanket covering you and the bowl. It works,

I had three upper right molars root treated twenty years ago. I paid a private dentist for good treatment for eleven years and was told regularly my teeth were fine. However, after attending the doctor because of headaches and pain behind my nose, where he prescribed nasal steroids, (I decided to ask my dentist to x ray the area behind my nose, which he did for a fee.) Turned out I had massive dental infection and had to have three molars and an eye tooth out. Dentist never x rayed a root! My teeth were not fine. I want to get implants but am suffering nasal pain when breathing, cheekbone and temple pain and headaches. I was scanned at maxillofacial dept who found nothing. I was discharged despite pain. I want to know if root canal treatment is a good idea? Is there a cover up?

The pain I am experiencing is not Empty Nose Syndrome. I have pain in my nostril when I breath in. There is no obstruction at all.

Oh my God. The same thing happened to me except, my right nostril hurts when I breathe out and it doesn't hurt when I breathe in. But my left nostril is completely fine. It's been going on for 4 days now.

I see people come and go on this forum, so I made a community on Facebook so we can gather and talk to each other about investigations etc. on this same issue we face. We do need to keep in touch, guys!!

Search on Facebook "Nose Pain Community" It's only me in the group right now but I've put my CTs, MRIs in there, and my experience with this in the past years, maybe there's something helpful for you too.
I think if we gather at least 3-4 people in there we can go a lot further with this.

I have a bad cold and I have pain in my soft pallete (behind the the roof of mouth closer to throat). Its so dry it hurts and it hurts to breath through my nose. I have found great relief in one silly thing. I boiled hot water and poured into a bigger tea cup (more surface area) and put my bathrobe around my entire head and trapped the steam directly into my face. It sounds silly but it helped relieve the dryness and pain for a while. Also been taking high dose of sudafed every 4 hours, but the steam really helped.

I too am having intense pain when breathing in air but mine is from a nasal septum defect. I have tried everything, I can’t sleep at night, any other suggestions besides creams or saline washes?

I too have the same problem and had it for about 7 years or more after I got punched in the nose and bleed a lot. It's in my right nostril and it comes when the air is dry and cold, I've tried different creams and oils but nothing helps. My septum is slightly deviated to the right and I've had turbinate reduction before for the stuffiness. Feels like antibiotics is my last hope. Anyone here have any clue what it could be or how it could be treated?

Hello. I also have the same problem for maybe more than 8 years already. Mine is on my right nasal cavity. Aside from pain and teary eyed, I also feel drowsy and vertigo like symptom. Only my right nasal cavity is having such pain - never on the left. It seemed that it is filled with mucous and irritates the inner part of my nose that causes the pain. When qtips or in my case rolled soft tissue paper is inserted, it gives me temporary relief. In my observation, the mucous drips or gets absorbed by the tissue paper and it somehow decongests it temporarily. But after the tissue is removed, the mucous seemed to build up again causing sinusitis like pain. It will get worst because the tissue will irritate your nose more and you will produce more mucous. I live in a tropical country, Philippines. I observed that when the air is warm, my nose drips but no pain. But when Im inside an air-conditioned room, it is sooo painful. I've already tried pain relievers like Etoricoxib 120mg and didn't take away the pain.

You might want to try my remedy. I'm not sure how or why or what's in it but it definitely works for me.
I apologize for posting the exact brand name. I'm not advertising it. I just want to make sure that the information that I will give is exactly what it is. I take Monster energy drink - only the Green one. I think its the original variety and I'm not sure if you have the same variety in your country. I drink it while its cold. I normally buy it from 7-11 and I think may be its between 2 to 4 degrees Celcius.
If you are a first time drinker, I would suggest that you take it in the morning and just 1/4 of its contents until you get used to it. It may cause palpitation or will not let you sleep at night due to its caffeine content. I'm already used to it but I only take half of it because it is a bit pricey. Hope this helps.

It Mar again. Forgot to mention that I keep the remaining half in a resealable container for future use.
Additional note. In my case, the pain goes away in 10 to 20 mins after drinking the energy drink. About 90 to 95 percent of the pain goes away for that span of time. For the remaining 5 to 10 percent, I would only feel a little pain/heaviness in my head for about an hour until the pain totally goes away. I observed that sticky mucous would start to drip under my palate (I think that what they call post nasal drip). Thanks
