I can't believe your story. I had the same operation and had three tumors removed...no swelling...no after pain...out to dinner that evening. Felt sleepy but that might have been from the road trip from Texas to Florida the day before. My phone conversations with the doctors prior to and after surgery were caring and professional. Sometimes a troublesome patient gets a less desirable outcome.

I too suffered lasting laryngeal nerve injury from my surgery in 2011. It was the 2nd surgery I had performed at the center. The first was on my neck and they determined the tumor was in my chest. I believe the lung surgeon who assisted with the operation is no longer affiliated with the center.

I have been diagnosed with primary hyperthyroidism and am being referred to Dr. Norman for surgery if my insurance is accepted. I am a retired veteran, and have Tricare prime (Humana military) does anyone know if they accept that? Thanks in advance.

Hi Dr. Norman. I had my first surgery at Mt Sinai in NYC by Dr. Owen. He could find the bad parathyroid gland so he removed half my thyroid gland. He removed 1 parathyroid gland on the other side, what a mess he made in there. I'm not cured. I went to you after that ordeal and you turned me away as the scan in your facility did not show the tumor. 3 months later I came back to you and still you could see the tumor but you so a spot that you said would be a 70% chance it was the tumor. I gave you the go ahead to operate to wake up and find out he didn't get it, you said he could find it. I believe you tried your best. My question is, what now? What do I do? Do I wait for it to show up? No one really knows what someone like me is supposed to do. The symptoms of this disease are nasty. What to do????????????????

I had my surgery in Dec 2014, I can honestly say it took me well over almost two years to get back to normal and then I was diagnosed with early breast cancer which I ended up having three lumpectomies and after the third surgery fought infections for ten months and needed a sinus surgery to remove infection. Now finally I am feeling normal. But I do believe this is all part of the endocrine system and somehow it is all related. I have also had ovarian cyst and endometriosis. I had no one monitoring me when I got home. My endocrinologist was no help and after six months Dr Norman's office told me any of my remaining symptoms were not parathyroid related. Very frustrating experience when expecting to walk out of the hospital cured.

I can relate Bob. I too went to unskilled surgeons and all the mistakes happened. I tried to go to Dr. Norman but they turned me down. Never got to talk with anyone there and they just did not put my records together in a way which would explained why I still have the disease. I was shocked to say the least. So I remain uncured and getting sicker. This has been going on since 2009. So for me, they were not experts.

I have found unsweetened almond milk to be an awesome calcium supplement! Two cups per day plus calcium rich veggies.

Dr. Norman is listed as an endocrine surgeon on their site (American Association of Endocrine Surgeons).

Did you find a good surgeon? I too considered going to Dr. Norman. But after reading these comments I am very reluctant to go to him. I keep reading vhow they rush patients out too quickly after surgery. I don't know where to go. Thank you.
