I have similar symptoms, but they're getting better. I will soon be tested for celiac disease and/or gluten sensitivity. Some estimate that as many as 70-80% of Americans have some degree of gluten sensitivity, which can exist so quietly and unnoticeably that most do not realize that the disorder is slowly degrading their immune system. Here's a website devoted to gluten sensitivity: ]The Gluten Syndrome.
Gluten sensitivity is a term for the inability to digest gluten, a protein found mainly in wheat products. Eating gluten causes quiet but destructive immune reactions in the body which can result in sigificant damage after some time.
The cure? Stop eating gluten. Here's a Wikipedia article that explains which foods you will have to avoid: Gluten-free Diet. And here's another one from Mayo Clinic:Gluten free diet: How to go gluten free.
If you want to find out if you have gluten sensitivity, make sure you have the right test done. The test usually done by your doctor will probably only diagnose gluten sensitivity if it is already pretty severe or has caused considerable damage. This essay, which is a little long but very informative, explains which tests you should be performing: Early Diagnosis Of Gluten Sensitivity: Before the Villi are Gone.
Or maybe it's something else. I actually eat virtually no carbs, as they are not necessary and most likely very unhealthy in the amounts that most Americans eat. I eat meat, nuts, and vegetables, and take Vitamin D and Omega-3 oil.
I've been on this diet, with occasional cheating, for the past few months. It's the periods of not cheating where I feel the best. My social anxiety, OCD, generalized anxiety, fatigue and depression are at their lowest levels in years, and I am actually happy most of the time.
Alcohol, or possibly the gluten in those drinks, can spark up pretty bad anxiety for me as well.
If you're interested, here's a page with dozens of helpful links that explain why the paleolithic diet is the healthiest diet for your body: The Paleolithic Diet Nutrition Page. This page talks about how the paleolithic diet can alleviate your depression and anxiety: The Paleo Diet and Depression.
Consider taking Vitamin D. This page, which goes into some depth, explains the link between Vitamin D deficiency and influenza: Vitamin D and influenza. Vitamin D deficiency has been linked to depression, Parkinson's, and many other disorders.
"According to the Vitamin D Council, if you are someone who completely avoids the sun you will need to take approximately 4,000 units of Vitamin D per day. You would have to drink 40 glasses of milk a day or take 10 multivitamins a day to get the required amount of Vitamin D.", from The Dangers of Vitamin D Deficiency. I recommend taking between 5,000 and 10,000 iu of vitamin D per day to get your levels back to normal.
Get healthy and happy. :)

Hi, to the original poster, I have had an almost identical experience, I have had this for around a year after suffering depression and although my life has turned around to the point where I should be very happy this problem still persists.
Other posters are talking about vomiting etc but I have never had that and probably would prefer if that did happen, it really is a kind of dull feeling.
I will tell you everything that has helped me although I have not healed atleast they may help you on the way to recovery.
Ginkgo Biloba tablets, very strong, seem to give energy even when in very bad shape, similarly there are similar tablets that can be bought and chinese medicine shops which are even stronger.
Less dry foods
More Water
Less sugar, honestly the temptation to have sugar or bad fats and refined foods is really strong but I have noticed a faster healing process if you dont take them.
turning upside down. One of the problems I believe is blood to the head, if you turn upside for a bit you can normal notice something, last time i tried this i felt a lot better for the rest of the night.
Anything that makes you pump your blood more - heat(hot baths etc), or whatever exercise you can do.
Good luck, I know how useless GPs are, there are other places and help out there, give things a shot and dont lose hope.

Gilbert's Syndrome is a Liver disorder (sometimes genetic) which causes elevated billirubin levels in the blood. This will cause fatigue, IBS type symptoms and, if you're generally unwell, jaundice in extreme cases. It isn't life threatening and there is no 'medical' treatment for it. It is aggrevated by stress, lack of sleep, depression, caffeine, processed foods etc. Change your life style and what you eat.
Don't assume you have Gilbert's from this detail. A blood test will confirm it but all other liver functions MUST be normal.
Google it and you will find lots of info.
I was diagnosed in Nov 2009 and took Milk Thistle and Bee Propolis. I've moved onto Rhodiola Rosea (also helps with my SAD) and I'm finding it quite good at the moment. Milk Thistle gave me diarrhoea again and nausea (known side effects) which is why I stopped taking it.
I told my doctor about the herbal remedies and he was dismissive to say the least.
I also discovered dairy products made me feel sick with stomach cramps so I have changed to lactose free products.
Feeling much better now but still have a poor appetite.

Something that can cause you to be nauseous after eating, or constantly nauseous is a disease called gastroparesis. It is usually found in diabetics, but I have had it for several years and am not diabetic. The trademark of this disease is slow emptying of the stomach which causes the nausea and vomiting. My doctor diagnosed me through a gastric emptying test. If this sounds plausible, you might want to speak to your gastroenterologist.

I too have a similar problem! After I eat I will randomly feel I'll. Problem is i don't know what foods will set it off. I only have a small list of things that won't effect me. This sucks because years ago I could eat anything! There is however one medication I have found that will stop the nausea and that is "promethazine". This stuff is prescription only but damn does it work great at stoping this! I take 12.5mgs when I feel this bs starting an with in 15 min I'm back to normal. Still sucks I have to do this but at least I have found some temporary realife.

These may not be recent posts, but I thought I'd put in my tuppence worth. :-)
I was in a bad state for a while and while a slow thyroid explained a small part of the problem, the real reason was that I have Candida (Candida Albicans or Candidiasis, if you want to check it out). It's when the yeast grows uncontrolled in the body and hijacks the system - plenty of info on the web, including useful videos on youtube. Lifestyle is a big contributor. It can take from 6 weeks to 2 years to clear.
I visited an alternative therapist and she recommended a change in diet, i.e. no yeast, sugary or starchy products; loads of veg, (excluding mushrooms - it's a fungus too - potatoes and corn), chicken breast, prawns, plain white yoghurt (the good bacteria found in it fight yeast), oats, brown rice, brown pasta, apples, lemon, lime and avocado AND NO OTHER FRUIT, ryvita (dark rye version), seaweed, plenty of green tea and loads of vitamins. I am taking an anti-fungal natural remedy (Pau d'Arco), plus vitamin E, C, Calcium-Magnesium-Zinc supplement, Omega 3 & 6 supplements and lechitin granules (to breakdown fat). Speak to your dietician before you embarg on any supplementation, though: mine was customised to my needs (including dealing with the low thyroid - which, by the way, may have been caused or at least aggravated by the Candida blocking the proper functioning of the hypothalamus, a major gland that controls other glands).
I am now feeling much better but the Candida is not 100% under control yet (been on new diet for eight months). Yesterday I was given a list of new vitamins to replace some of the above (again, why a professional should help), to adjust to the new situation.
Good luck! Hope you all feel better soon! :-)

i know exactly how you feel, I always feel so awful after i eat anything at all, it is awful you miss out on things you like, before i offer my suggestion you have to know i am not a drug addict, when i take i single normal dose of an opiate like percocet or vicodin once daily my symptoms almost all go away and the ones that remain are actually alot more tolerable, It is amazing that one pill can help so much i dont take pills every day or even every week i am not addicted or dependant, I found this out by accident when i took a pill for severe back pain i noticed all my symptoms improved, i have been to doctors for this condition but as you may know doctors are completely unwilling to prescribe any kind of narcotics especially when they cant "see" your ailment. it is very frustrating to know what will give you a normal life is out there but always out of reach best of luck to you

I will tell you how to solve your problem. More than likely you are an O or an A blood type. So sugar and starch are your enemies and should be reduced as much as possible. I would also recommend that one day a week you don't eat anything at all. Just drink lots of water, in fact research has shown that if you are suffering from a pre-diabetic condition such as hypoglycemia water fasting may actually prevent the progression of the disease. If you are over- fat than this will definately benefit you by reducing body fat content as well. Usually people that are hypoglycemic develop insulin resisant diabetes. If you do a little research on the subject you will discover why fasting is a good way to counter it's effects as well. I want to caution you though, don't abuse the instructions I am giving you. You can do more harm to yourself than good if you don't exercise caution in this practice. If you wish to eliminate the fatigue you can try this.
Pick two days out of the week that you will put nothing in body but water. In the maintence cycle it will drop to one but for now two. The rest of the week try to keep you r carb limit to under 20g a day. When the fatigue is gone then you may drop to one day a week on the fasting and increase you carb limit a little at a time. By doing this you can see how many carbs and what type casue you to feel bad. If you get to 60 and you start to feel like crud then you know you need to keep your carbs under 60 to feel good. By limiting sugar and starch you can keep well within your carb limit. if you have any questions you may email me at ***this post is edited by moderator *** *** private e-mails not allowed **
