well, how about this theory... we actually do know that these things do accumulate in our throat and want to be popped out once in a while (yuck) But I can guarantee  you that the rest of the population has them also, but doesn't know about them.. so they just eat these horrible nasty yellow pockets of c**p with breakfast, lunch and dinner..lol

I use the round end of a comedone extractor to scoop them up and out of the pockets in the back of my throat.  Quick and safe.

I definitely get these more the more rubbish food I eat- Dairy is definitely the worst. I read on the internet that tonsil stones are due to the lymph glands not being able to clean out the "old junk" well enough.. this makes sense. try drinking more water and definitely eat less dairy, wheat and sugar.

I used to have these for years. I went to a couple of homeopathic doctors about 7 years ago, who suggested I cut out white flour and sugars in my diet. I have REALLY reduced both of these things and have had NO lumps since about a month into changing my diet. Last week I binged for three days and the 4th morning woke up with 2 of the little devils in my throat! I increased my water and decreased sugar and white flour and have had none since.

I have had these small smelly lumps develop on the back of my throat for some time now.  Very thankful to find these posts to understand I'm not alone.  I believe mine develop whenever I drink a carbonated beverage, as that is the only time I feel them.  So far gargling salt water, using a water pick and just trying to cough it up hasn't worked.

Hi. As a lot of people have said - I am very releived to find this site!!! I have had these white lumps on and off through out my life and absolutely HATE them!! Haha I feel i have some interesting perspective to share due to my current situation, although it may be different for every individual. My throat stones have drastically increased in the past 6-8 months. I found that in my teens they would mostly dislodge when i was surfing (i put this down to salt water? I dont know) although i very rarely got them, and they were small, so I didnt worry about them. I did suffer from a lot of tonsilitis in my early twenties, sometime a couple times a year, as some people said that there is a connection, although i am 30 now and have not had tonsilitis since 2009. Last time i had it my GP said if i kept getting it i would need my tonsils removed. Although the tonsil stones were never discussed as they still weren't so bad in my early 20s, just 1-2 small ones every few months. My mum also gets the white horrors. My eating is currently very healthy, the best it has ever been, I do not beleive that is the problem for me. Although i do eat a lot of almonds and did have the thought it was pieces of almond getting caught in my throat and turning rancid. Someone mentioned immune system and infection? I currently have a high impact compound fracture to my leg with an ilizarov fixation holding my leg together by 9 external pins going through my bone. I have had this injury for 13 months now, the frame for 11. So i am prone to serious infection if i am not careful. However at this point in time i have had no problems, although i have heard of scary cases of infection with people sharing the same injury and frame as myself, and not knowing until the frame was being removed. My white horrors have increased out of sight in the past 6-8 months since my injury. Every week I am getting as much as a pea size out, and my tongue now has a yellowish film on it. So I can only relate this to my injury, and possibly immune system, although I look and feel very healthy, gym 5 times a week, great diet, excellent dental hygiene and always have, regularly taking zinc powder, vit c. Never been a smoker, dont drink alcohol, do drink lots of water. I hope this has been of some help to someone. Cheers :-)

This is called tonsil stones . They go by several names but this is the one I prefer to use. Tonsil have crypts and the food particle get trapped in the crypts. They range in size , usually yellow or greenish in color but they have a very foul smell. They are sticky to the touch. The stones can produce a sore throat . Certain movements in speech force them to pop out. Sometimes in several tiny pieces or one stone. I take a long rounded wooden skewer and push on the tonsil expelling the stones. Rinse my mouth with Listerine. Do this every month or so and your breath will improve.
