I have a soft , oval shaped lump, on the left side , between groin and pubic bone. It is not painful, most of the time. Once in a while, pain goes down my upper leg. Also lower back pain. I’m dealing with this for almost 3 years.

Hi, guest. Here are a few potential causes for a lump in the groin area:

  1. Hernia: One common cause of a lump in the groin is a hernia. A hernia occurs when an organ or tissue pushes through a weakened area of the abdominal wall. Inguinal hernias, in particular, can cause a lump in the groin region. Hernias can be associated with discomfort or pain, especially when lifting or straining.

  2. Lymph nodes: Lymph nodes are small, bean-shaped structures in the body's lymphatic system. Swollen or enlarged lymph nodes in the groin can cause a lump. Infections or other medical conditions can lead to lymph node enlargement.

  3. Lipoma: A lipoma is a noncancerous, fatty lump that can develop under the skin. Lipomas are usually soft to the touch and often painless.

  4. Cyst: Cysts are sac-like structures filled with fluid, air, or other materials. They can develop anywhere on the body, including the groin area. Cysts are generally benign but can sometimes become painful or infected.

  5. Other possibilities: There are various other less common causes of lumps in the groin area, including tumors, swollen blood vessels, or skin conditions.

Since you've been dealing with this lump for almost three years, it's crucial to consult with a healthcare professional. They can perform a physical examination, order any necessary tests (such as imaging studies or biopsies), and provide a diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan based on their findings.
