I have the same problem with my right knee. It came on suddenly after a knee bend. Feels like a scrap or rug burn. Sometimes the pain takes me by complete surprise when doing a simple movement where my knee touches another surface such as my yoga mat.

I looked it up. Does not sound like what most of us have described.

Hi, I have exactly the same symptoms, my doctor said it could be tendons, was given some exercises, they don't seem to be doing good, still it's a mistery and no cure

I have the same thing, I do think it is Neropathy. Burns like a rug burn on my inside of th knee area, and behind. I did fall a month ago on my hip, maybe that too. I had a MRI on 02-09-2017, no report yet....

Thank you for explaining. I noticed that you responded on another forum as well. This began for me about three weeks ago. I spent several days painting, doing a lot of kneeling on the hardwood floors. Nothing was immediately apparent, but a few days later, I knelt on concrete to pull weeds and thought I'd torn the side of my knee open. Severe pain! It's been about two weeks now and I don't dare kneel or fully bend my knee. In the other forum, several people noted that they had been kneeling on hard surfaces prior to noticing this syndrome. Tincture of time will help, I guess. No more kneeling without a thick cushioned knee pad!

Wow, finally somebody else is experiencing this annoying and painful knee/skin sensation issue. It is impossible to make someone who hasn't experienced the same feeling understand what exactly is going on. "It's the tendon" or "you strained your muscle" I can't count how many times I have had to say "No! You're not listening! It feels like a rug burn or like the bone is piercing through the skin when kneeling or knee is bent while wearing jeans. No bruising. No swelling. No ambulatory problems. It feels fine until I kneel on any surface.. pillow soft or marble hard. Borderline excruciating! If anyone could just address it accurately and give an actual remedy, I would be so happy! Until then....my fingers are crossed.

Thanks a lot. I think I probably damaged my nerve due to a wrong position of my legs when working.

I have had the burning sensation in both knees but only when I kneel, it started about three months ago after I slid across the dance floor on my knees at the works Christmas party, my party piece. It has slowly got better on its own and now it is barely noticeable. Fingers crossed I'm back to normal soon as I'm going to a wedding reception in a couple of weeks

I suffer from a similar condition. I am only 18 yrs. old and have wrestled my whole life. The sensation is a very sharp pain, a burning, on the inward facing side of my right knee. I can watch, stretch, or even do squats with literally no pain at all. However, if even a slight amount of pressure is applied to the local area, the pain immediately flares up. Yet, as soon as the pressure is removed the pain is immediately gone.

My knee pain is exactly the same. Have you found out what is causing it yet?

I went to physio for them to check it out and couldn't find anything. They said it's wear and tear on cartilage of the knee and it presses down on nerves when kneeling. They weren't too bothered about it. Gave some exercises to strengthen knee.
