I'm trying to lower my cholesterol and triglycerides and the more reserach I do the more confused I get.

I was trying to use whey protein in fat-free milk as a snack, but then someone told me that your body combines sugar and protein to create cholesterol and the whey protein mixture that I've been using has a good bit of sugar in it.

Then someone told me that people on Atkins typically have lower cholesterol, but if I'm eating eggs and meat all of the time how is my cholesterol going to go down?

I'm hungry - I'm afraid to eat carbs - I don;t know what kind of protein to eat and I don;t even know if I vegetables and fruit are ok -- doesn;t fruit have a bunch of sugar in it?

I'm frustrated.
Whoever told you people on Atkins have lower cholesterol is not entirely accurate--you really need to just eat healthy foods. Try to select foods on a 40/30/30 ratio. That's carbs/fats/protein. And that should be good enough to help lower your cholesterol. You can try eating oatmeal and whole grain foods and that's pretty much all you'd need to drop your cholesterol. Does anyone else have any ideas?
