Over the past few months, I've noticed symptoms of Diabetes; constantly thirsty, weight loss, constantly eating, tiredness, dry skin, blurry vision. But a few months before this started happening, I had a blood test and the doctor never said I had anything abnormal. I've confronted my mother about it, but she says it's probably nothing. I'm a little confused right now, because I have all the symptoms but the test showed negative and I want to be pretty positive before I confront my mom again. Help?
And also frequent urination, I forgot to add that. Just thought I might. Please help!

If you began having symptoms after the blood work was done I suggest you get retested. An illness or a virus will not cause diabetes but it can trigger the disease if you are predisposed to developing it. Diabetes runs in my family, my mom, my aunt, and my son all have it. My son was a toddler when he got the chicken pox virus and 5 days later he was so thirsty and tired, he had nightmares and constantly had to urinate. Since I was familiar with the symptoms I took him immediatly to the doctor to have his blood sugar tested and he was admitted to the hospital a few hours later with diabetic ketoacidosis.
please talk with your mother about getting retested. Good luck.

Dear Miss confused... I feel your pain on that. I have been tested like 3 times. I drink like a case of waters in 2 days. I can't sleep due to the constant having to pee(no wonder right) I am bipolar so cant say if I am unusually irritable.lol. My legs, hands and feet swell beyond belief. I have gained weight though... not lost (I wish) I get clammy and feel fait and have even fainted. Although I DO have celiac sprue disease, I am told that it wont cause these symptoms and My entire family except my brother and mother have had diabetes of some form on BOTH sides of my family. My symptoms are the spitting image of my maternal grandmother who has now passed of congestive heart failure. As of now I feel like my legs are litterally dying they ache so bad. So I am confused too. Just wanted to let you know you are definately NOT ALONE and just keep getting retested. I know the Doc's get ill doing it over and over but so what that's what they get paid tha big bucks for,right......keep your head up.
