Please help! I was in the girls bathroom for 10 mins trying to figure out what to do please some advice?
if you are ever out in public & start your period, but unfortunately don't have any pads or tampons, use tissue or ask someone if they have one.

OK. First and obvious steps, personal comfort and hygiene: if you haven't done so already, I'd suggest you make yourself a pad of tissue or toilet paper, do not insert any in the vagina, as you have yet to learn about them (I presume) and there are certain safety issues concerning them, and it would be well for you to understand that before you first use them.

If the bleeding is light enough that you can use say 8-10 squares of tissue, form a pad (a makeshift sanitary towel) so that you can walk about, that will get you out of the loo and mobile. Speaking of mobiles, if you have one, then the next call would be to your mother, on the assumption that she is available, and you can talk with her about such things. You may be concerned, perhaps embarassed, but this is a natural and important part of a woman's life, and she'll be expecting this now, anyway, so you might as well give her the call.

If you're at school, and they have a nurse or medical professional, or simply just a woman teacher, preferably one you feel comfortable with, approach them and explain what's happening. It happened to them, so they'll understand if you're embarassed or uncomfortable, and will take care of you.

If you're anywhere else, use common sense: you need a briefing from an adult woman, to take you through the practical steps of dealing with your period. After that, a trip to the booksstore: I'm sure they'll have a book on the changes you can expect, and the issues that a young adult faces in the future.

Any concerns, come back to us on here, but ultimately, don't forget: any responsible adult, preferably a woman, will want to help you. Unless you're on a dessert island, I'm sure you should have a few of those lying around... go track one down. Good luck.
