that's what we've all been hearing, however, i can tell you that i smoke about 150$ a week, so about 5-6 times a day, and every time i stopped because i had to leave the country etc. i felt like sh*t every time, next morning i get all clammy, not to mention puking which lasts for about 2 days. and this only happens as soon as i quit. so yah, physical addiction study needs to be rerun lol specially wen it looks i'm not the only one

You are not alone. I too have been a daily pot smoker for 30 years. I am successful and have a great family. I am a public service job and do very well at it. I stopped smoking for 30 days and had zero appetite, freakish dreams, nausea, sleepnessness and general crabbiness. Wasn't pleasant. Bottom line, like you....I wanted to break the addiction. I did, and it was kinda cool - but I am smoking again because I like it too. I am not a drinker, and don't see why responsible tax paying people are criminalized if they put their kids to bed and lie in bed with the partner/spouse...smoke a joint or two...and go to bed while it's cool for people to drink three drinks and drive home drunk. It's ridiculous. I think the tide is turning, and people are beginning to realize....but in the meantime keep fighting the good fight and I wish you the best. It's good to know, that while difficult, I was able to give it up voluntarily...but then I thought why should I? Because society says so? So, moderation is key and I think it's awesome you're giving it a try. Rock on former and possiblymaybealittlebitinthefuture stoner.

Hope this suggestion can help those who are having trouble sleeping after quitting Marijuana:

Try putting on a nice and peaceful documentary when you are going to bed. Lie down while watching it and eventually you will dose off. If the first documentary doesn't do it, then onto the next one, then a TV show and so on till you get to sleep!

Might take a few hours more, but sure shot to get you to sleep. Sometimes you go down instantly in 5-10 mins if it is either a very nice documentary or a very boring one.

Hope it can help someone, regards.

false.....I just quit and I have bigtime headaches, dizzyness, nausia........its a rumor that there are no physical addictions. ANY substance will give you withdrawls if its something our body is used too. When smoking it calms your stomach and many other things so when u stop u arent used to normal nausea and other things.....

I have been eighth a day guy for about 11 years...daily smoking.....I am in medical field and am telling you that there are real physical and psychological withdrawal symptoms!! about a week of bed soaking night sweats, decreased appetite, anxiety, depressed, and it goes on............lots of people think refer is harmless...unfortunately it is hard to do the amount of research needed when it is considered an illegal substance, if it gets legalized there will be much more funding which will go towards quality research...and that might kill lots of peoples buzz lol.....

Ok, my story. Been smoking on an off for 24 years, now 38. I've been through times of stopping when I was pregnant twice so I know it can be done.  Between these pregnancies I was pretty much a daily smoker.  In the last year I have been daily again as previous year was very sporadic and also tried the sythetic cannabis which by the way is nothing like the real stuff and 100 times more dangerous, that was addictive and hard to get off, the those withdrawl symptoms were the worst but very similar to what I am experiencing now.  It has been two days and only because I cannot get on.  Although I have been wanting to quit again as I was having that much each day and going throuh a quarter in 3-4 days was becoming ridiculous besides the fact it was just too expensive and I can't justify the money spent now as I'm currently out of work.  The past few days I have had the nauseous feeling more so in the morning but it is still lurking now after lunch.  I do not feel hungry and am forcing food into me for the hell of it but I am sooo full.  Sweaty palms and hot and cold flushes along with goose bumps too.  My mind is constantly craving it.  My dreams have become more vivid and yes bizarre.  I really want to follow through again with quiting, the will power is hard.  Keeping occupied is hard even though there's plenty of things to be done.  Anyone who says it does not have an affect on you are on another planet.  As it does.  It's real and it's hard.  Let's see if I can stick to my guns and do this, if not for me for my kids.

Oh and forgot to add the mood swings. Yesterday (maybe it was because every place I had to call had an automated operator) I got extremely angry and was very frustrated, my patients are thin and I am also up and down in my moods. One minute ok and happy the next could burst into tears. It affects you mentally, emotionally and physically.

Withdrawal symptoms are very real indeed, maybe some people just don't get them like others, I had to give up pot after 26 years of smoking hash, approximately a eighth a day. The reason being I was contracted to hospital with pneumonia. Trust me my ct and xray scans were not a pretty sight, I was told I had the lungs of a 65year old full time smoker (im 43) very shocking. After being on drips for 2 weeks i was released and told to give up or die. I had shading to my lungs and also permanent scarring.maybe a lot of this was due to the nicotine, this is when the real hell started, the withdrawal systems were horrific, I started to eat so much food I put on 2 stone in 7 weeks, I would sweat every night so much my bed sheets would be soaking wet, so bad I would have to change them in the middle of the night every night for atleast 5 weeks, after 5 weeks I would still get sweaty just not as much. In the first 3 weeks I would also get weird suicidal thougts.. wtf you might be thinking but this was real.ive also not managed to sleep for more than 3 hours in any 1 night, last night I managed 4 hours which was a record for me. Also im having the strangest dreams ever, I remember every single moment of them, this had never happened before, only after I quit. Its been 9weeks now, the hardest 9 weeks of my life. Withdrawal systems are real. I can now start to see a light at the end of the tunnel, I hope I can make it there. I hope this helps anyone going through the beginning of withdrawal systems, atleast you know what to expect.

How long till I stop throwing up and wanting to kill everyone it's been a week since I smoked but feels like a month. I watch football and forget what happened 5 plays ago. I can't even walk home without getting lost well not really lost I just won't pay attention. I lost multiple jobs friends. I'm always sad I cried for three hours straight when Stuart Scott died I mean I liked the man but I didn't even cry when my family members passed. I freak out when sh*t doesn't get done right away everything pisses me off now I finally sleep 4 hours a night no dreams though. I can't stop sweating, after I throw up I feel a little better for the rest of the day. One minute I'm freezing the next I'm hot as hell. I feel dehydrated but I drink over 2 gallons a day. All I eat is vegetables when I try to eat once a day I went from 225 to 205 in the matter of a week. I went to the hospital to make sure I was fine and the doctor said that I'm 100% healthy. I don't feel the need to smoke just I got to get better. I take vitamins try to sweat it out at the gym eat healthy. What the hell else can I do this sh*t is really out of control. Not that it really matters but I've been smoking at least an 1/8 a day for the past year and at least 1-2 grams for 4 years before that. Oh yeah I also have problems in the bedroom now and I'm 23 so none of this sh*t should be happening.

You are wrong. Smoke every day and then quit. Fuckers that just blatantly say sh*t like cannibis has no physical addiction are ignorant dumbfucks!

This is completely false. While your body can't become physically addicted to the THC in marijuana, if you do it often enough (at least once or twice a day), you're going to feel like c**p when you stop. Your brain and your body are used to being in this state of mind, and your body can somewhat go into schock upon quitting. Those who say you cannot become addicted to marijuana are clearly not true smokers. I found that several central nervous depressants such as Wellbutrin really helped when I quit, even though it's used to ween people from cigarettes. Talk to your doctor about trying something like this. You don't necessarily have to talk them you smoke, although they are not at liberty to talk to anyone else about it, but it may be worth a shot. Other than that, tough it out a few weeks and it'll eventually get better! Hope this helps. -former avid marijuana smoker
