ahaha, this made me so irritated. Sounds like something a little kid would say just regurgitating what they've heard. You will never find a story of someone who smoked habitually for years then quit cold turkey and was A-OK. Don't believe me? look at the 9 pages of replies after this comment.

I know it's bad but I've decided I'm gonna always smoke weed.. It's not even an addiction thing it just helps me too much. I have deviated away from the past when for a good while I'd wake up every day and grab the bong and remain as high as possible throughout the day.. And like the other guy always the top shelf medical grade stuff.. but now I only smoke at night time because I realize the problems it causes by smoking all day. However like I said it helps me too much because I can't fall asleep at night sober, I just toss and turn until like 5am but if I've smoked a few bowls I fall right soundly asleep. Also at the end of the day it's the one thing that helps me the most with dealing with every day stress and problems.. I stay sober and deal with sh*t during the day but its all fine as long as I can get really blazed at the end of the day and just relax. Do you guys think this is really bad or is my reason for smoking legitimate?

Evening to anyone that reads this, another cold turkey goer here. A daily smoker for 20+ years (2g-3g high grade/top shelf per day, often more), I am trying to cease my LOVE affair with Mary-Jane.

I just wanted to offer a few suggestion for those that suffer with physical withdrawals, of which i am also one. While these suggestions are not going to get rid of withdrawal symptoms completely, i promise they will aid to mitigate the severity and get you eating and sleeping better. Ultimately getting you to our shared goal of sobriety more promptly.

1) exercise exercise exercise - this will help you sweat out the cannabinoids, which are stored in fat cells. you don't have to go running round the town like a mad man/woman ( I do).... but, 20-30 minutes brisk walking will get you sweating, saunas might help some, but not as much to drag out those toxins from your body fat. Get your heart pumping and those lungs working a little stronger. It will aiso release some stress and elevate your mood.

2) Try dieting - this will encourage your system to further purge the cannabinoids as your body begins to break down fat storages. Look for a well balanced, calorie deficit approach

3) Try to eat small healthy snacks if you struggle with a full meal. this i find helps my stomach to adjust to nausea that just the thought of a proper cooked meal has. Actually even the thought of a sandwich on some days was enough to make me feel off.

4) drink plenty SUGAR FREE fluids, this means, no soda, no fruit juice (sugar free squash is fine), no milkshakes, no smoothies, alcohol, no red bull etc... the sugars make headaches worse and therefore reducing sugar intake all help alleviate some of the extreme headaches. though it won't get rid of them completely.
and likewise.... watch the fruit that you consume. fruit is full of natural sugars which can make the withdrawal headaches worse.

5) Avoid Caffeine - this can be hard, especially for coffee and tea lovers, try to reduce your intake. If you need the caffeine kick first thing in the morning, try reducing the strength first and then move to caffeine free, it takes a couple up to a couple of weeks to adjust, but caffeine i have found can be worse for headaches than sugar.

5) Tell/Talk to someone who you are close to, tell them what you are going through, having someone to vent at, much like these forums will help you stay strong. I am NOT saying you need sympathy or empathy, but just share your struggle, get it off your chest.

I hope my 2 pennies worth will give you a couple of pointers that you may not have come across yet or just reinforce the knowledge you already have.

Anyone who is trying to better themselves is commendable, you are greater than the substance. You may not realise it yet - but the fact that you are 1or 2 or 3 days, maybe weeks sober - you have already bettered yourself and progressing to a more fulfilled life.

You're sadly mistaken. That's an old lie. Heavy marijuana use for many years can cause physical addiction

Defiantly not true I've quit now for a month after smoking everyday for 17 years and it's been a awful month. Cold sweats, not slept and if I do I have very vivid dreams. There is plenty of evidence now that says there is physical and mental withdrawal symptoms.

Maybe it's different depending on the person cuz yea I feel sick and nauseated when I wake up but it goes away after a while plus it's been getting easier to cope with the longer I'm off

i put down a pipe while reading this. Barfly and sweaty all night and day, cant eat, things dont taste good and feel heavy, I loose track of whats happening (while its happening) I cant keep track of my thoughts anymore. I cant sleep :( The thing is I used to have night terrors as a kid, and waking dreams. I have always been moody and afraid. And also my head hurts. And i think i scared someone away who night have been a great friend because i spent a week without smoking before i talked to then and had no idea that i was acting so strangely because I was being my un-inebriated self after about 3 -2 years of smoking every hour (which was after a couple years of smoking at a lighter rate). Weed is very addicting. I literally have to tell myself to breathe, because i notices that now and then i dont for several second, this only started recently. Sadly i still smoke everyday, but thankfully its no longer every hour 0_o

Sorry, previous poster again. I gave in :( haing done so, i thogt i would cone back and say how it feels right now, i suddenly dont need to barf, its been several days, but in shaking more then before. I no longer feel like i an about to go nuts because an unknown aspect of the world is just " not quite right". Interesting but i dint really notice that was a fear until after i smoked and it went away... while typing the barfing feeling is back just a little and seems related to the "whats wrong" thought There is for sure a feeling of being "injured" at this point, but it seems less so when in high. Tricky friend, that pot is.....Honestly I love weed but i an becoming paranoid and afraid now, so.....

Stay strong everyone! We aren't quitters, we're just fire fighters saving ourselves from the smoke ; D Best of luck to ye
