Hi, I am a high school graduate and I would like to become a naturopathic. I know that they use all kinds of herbs and natural products instead of synthetic drugs to cure illness. This is something I am interested in because I am aware of the side effects the synthetic drugs have on us. Can you tell me something more about education that I need to get to become a naturopathic doctor?
Hi, first of all a few basic information. Naturopathic medicine is focused on self-healing ability that everybody has in some degree. The basic philosophy of naturopathic medicine is that the doctors try to identify and treat the cause of illness and not the symptoms. They try to avoid doing harm to the patient using medicines that have minimal side effects and always try to emphasize person’s self healing process. They also encourage self-responsibility for health with their patients. As far as education is concerned: To get the Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (ND) diploma you must complete the four-year program, after which you must also pass international licensing examinations and only then you will receive a license. I hope this information helps! Good luck!
