I am 13 years old, I am 5'6", and I weigh nearly 160 pounds. last year i had pneumonia and i ended up really sick for a month and in the hospital for a week. I gained a lot of weight. Now i cannot run or do vigorous excercise because I will begin to hyperventelate and one time i passed out. I know it is because of the fact i think my lungs are damaged and i never was able to lose the weight i gained when i was sick and i think that might be why. i tried dieting but i cannot do it. I also have a permanently injured back so i cannot do situps, pushups or any other back related excercises. i also am really busy with school and extracurricular activities so i really don't know what to do. i am desperate because i am gradually gaining weight and i know that being over weight which is where i am heading can cause diabetes and heart problems and i really do not want to get any sort of life threatening disease like that. Please HELP ME! I WILL DO ANYTHING! ) =

Hello mcsquared,
So you're 12 and need to lose and you have health issues. Some where along the line you will have to do some exercise. Your body really can't survive without it. But in the meantime you can establish a healthy diet. You'll need to cut back on your calories by at least 500 Calories and eat very healthy meals. You need lean meats/seafood along with fresh veggies and fruits. The veggies can be steamed to keep all their nutritional value. Make sure that you take a good multivitamin. Stay away from processed foods and sugary items like donuts, cake and candy. You might consider starting a low carb diet. You can still eat most of the things you like but in moderation.
