I have been off and on for the past 5 years I get off and have the symptoms and going though the withdrawls then the original pain comes back and I am give it again and its all over again well I just wanted to tell you you are not alone I am also pregnant and trying to get off it this will be the 8th time but I also haven't been taking it that long so this one might not take or be so extreme. Its going to hurt so if u work or anything for me I know I have to put at least 1 week aside for these withdrawls and I only been taking it for only the pass monnth but what really helps is I have a low doseage and I didn't take it everyday maybe only 2 (max) and skip a few days if u been on longer u might want to try that also someone who will tell you no should hold on to the pills for you work your way down to 1/2 pill a day then skip like maybe Monday but not Tuesday or Wednesday then take again thursday. It will be hard trust me I went from at least 10 a day only 50mg and a two year addicted I had to stop cold turkey with that one and that was a horrible 3 months of my. Life

I was wondering if you could tell me how your son is doing now? I am in this exact same position with my 3 yr old dd and the guilt is tearing me apart.

I just saw your post. I am in the same exact position with my 3 yr old. Something is wrong, she has autistic like behaviors but they do not think it is autism. She is in the special education preschool and goes to therapy each week. I was wondering how your son is doing? Do you mind if we private message? I can give you my email address. I have never found a single person who is in the same position as me and I would love to have someone to talk to. Thanks

I was prescribed tramadol for back pain, I am not pregnant but the doctor advised me not to get pregnant while on tramadol because when my baby would start teething, his teeth would grow out stained and black. Weird but that's what my Dr said.

I have been taking tramadol for about 2 yrs as well. I have chronic back pain from the stress of my 2previous pregnancies and the hours and work while pregnant throughout both. I have done a lot of research on what harm this can cause. My o.b. prescribed it for me twice during this pregnancy. I am now almost 6 months pregnant. I did not take any pain relievers during my previous pregnancies. From what I have found there is no proof that this medication will harm your unborn. I will take 2of the 50 mg. Every morning. Just be careful because when I run out I do go through withdrawal symptoms that would not be as hard to cope with if I didn't have a 2 and 4 yr old to take care of everyday. It's not that you feel like you can't make it through the day without it. You just have an energy level of zero.

there are no long term studies on tramadol but dont think you did this to your child, i go through the same thing with my son and i never took tramadol til after he was born....i did everything right in my pregnancy and still there is something wrong with my son....the guilt can literally kill you we all feel it with special needs kids, just remember every kid isnt the same and some need more help, for example my son is a little slower than some kids in motor skills and speech as well as social skills but he will blow you away with his amazing memory and his sweetness, so what if your son has some issues just love him for who he is and dont blame yourself, and dont let other people make you feel guilty, which can happen a lot with autistic/special needs kids

With my second baby i was addicted to tramadol and could not wean totally so throughout my whole pregnancy i felt guilty but luckily my son is completely fine (no rotten teeth lol) thank the lord......but oddly my first son (which i did not use any kind of drug with, not even nicotine) has issues also autistic-like but not full blown autism so i am having a problem getting him diagnosed. at any rate i definately dont recommend taking them but if you are addicted and have been for 4 years i would be worried that quitting cold turkey might throw you into withdrawal and harm the baby that way, i tried once during my pregnancy and ended up in the hospital for a day. my best advice is to be completely honest with your doctor about your situation, although its not something i had the balls to do :(

Hello! I posted awhile back in this. I was taking tramadol for a broken wrist and had been on it for about 3 years. Well, I never fully stopped taking it while Inwas pregnant but I did ween myself down to 1-2 before I have birth. I just had my healthy baby girl 13 May 2013. She scored a 9 on the apgar and had no signs at all of withdrawal. I had her naturally with no pain meds at all. She is almost a month old now, perfectly normal, perfectly healthy. Just wanted to update!

I have looked up the study that classifies ultram aka tramadol as a class C for pregnancy drug and it stated that prolonged exposure to the drug made studies on ANIMALs that had birth defects present, no studies on actual humans have been officially published.
