I think you got it right, Bio. Several jobs are better than one. Of course in this economy that's exactly what a lot of people have even if they don't want it. I took my electronics training and used it in the consumer repair business. Financially that was a horrible mistake. I knew when I chose TV repair in the late 50s that I would never make as much as I could have in industry. At that time I could have doubled my income by going to industry. They also got health insurance which I always had to pay for myself, plus real vacation time not just one week. When I was in my 60s I discovered the industrial techs were earning about 5 times what I was in consumer electronics. So I know I really grabbed the short end of the stick when I chose TV repair.

But it felt so right, as I'm sure you feel in your vet-tech job. The interaction with your customers and the feeling of doing something for someone who needs it is wonderful, although I'm not too sure it was worth the earnings differential in my trade.

I have to agree with you about the sex-ed. It's hard for me to believe how little the young folks know about such an important aspect of life. I thought we were ignorant in my time because there was no such thing as sex-ed and anyone who even suggested it became a societal outcast. Apparently that aspect hasen't changed a whole lot since the 50s.

I am very encouraged by the questions that both girls and boys are asking here. When I was looking for a mate, boys were into sex but very ignorant about it because nobody would tell us anything of value. Girls were still at the "it's my duty to my husband but I don't have to like it stage. Maybe if I close my eyes it will be over soon". What a terrible thing for girls to have felt that way when their bodies are designed to give them sooo much pleasure if they and their partner only know how. At least the girls who come here now seem to know that and they want to understand how it works. Learning about their own bodies still seems to be lacking for both sexes. It amazes me when a teen boy doesn't know what's under his foreskin or even that it is supposed to be able to be pulled back to reveal the glans. Or thinks something is wrong when he discovers his glans hurts when it's touched.

I think we do have something that they call sex-ed but the content is designed to not offend anyone (parents). When you try to do that you end up with basically nothing. I have two sons who are in their 40s and one of them has a 10 year old daughter who asks questions. When I listen to them express opinions about what they feel is appropriate for her to know, I can't believe they are mine. The poor girl is going to end up coming here (if she's lucky) to learn what she should be learning in school and at home.

@ music-maker...... We have removed YRE from the site so you dont have to worry about it.... Thanks. and we agree what he posted was very inappropriate.

@Njoy... WOW i totally just now saw your huge post and that is why i only responded to your question abouty the band earlier. SO anyway yes I TOTALLY AGREE with everything you had to say in your last post.... I have told several kids/classed about this site. (this is when im teaching jr hi) although i should mention it the high shcoolers too... Usually when i'm subbing a science class or something where i can sort of tie in the topic about it so its just not like a random "Hey check this site out.... ok now back to shakespeare lol.... but yea Very important for kids to know these things and always shocking to see the same questinos over and over about things they should already know.
