Hello everyone, I've been taking insulin for two years now. It seemed to work perfectly fine during that time, but for the past month or so, my blood sugar's just been through the roof! I have type two diabetes, by the way. I don't want to maek an appointment with my doctor, Dr. Brennan, because it just takes so much time and I'm pretty busy around this time of the year (you know, taking the grandkids sledding, going with them to see Santa, staying up with them for New Years, baking cookies and candies, cleaning the house, etc.). Recently, I've tried simply to avoid eating at all--not that I eat all those sweets anyway--so that I could keep my blood sugar down, or eating things that don't have sugar, but nothing's working! So, please, if anyone out there knows why this is happening, and how to fix it (preferrably without a doctor visit), I would be extremely grateful. Oh, and happy almost-New Year, to you all!

Hello Guest.... It seems that your insulin is not at the appropriate level for your body anymore.  You will need to see your doctor about an adjustment on your dosage.  Have you or are you keeping track of the blood glucose readings?  If not, do this and keep track of food intake for a couple of weeks and have your doctor look at it.  He/she will then be able to figure out how much insulin will be most beneficial to you.  Do not cut back on food since you need the carbs for energy.  You will need to see the doctor and get an idea about how to still eat the foods you need for your health.
