Firstly, thanks to everybody who posted on this site. I've finally found what seems to cure it for me now. Been about 6 years or so on and off and to be honest I still don't know if it's eczema, a yeast infection, fungal infection or something else.
Came back to this site to help anyone who may come across it.
Basically the symptoms were the same. EXTREME itchiness at night, due to scratching it was almost bleeding at times, leathery skin. Pain almost 24/7. Itchy and pain when you sleep at night and because of the wounds, every-time you walk or sit down it was painful. Sometimes it would start to heal and I would get dry flaky skin, which was also painful.
Anyway, there are 2 ways to treat (which have worked for me).
Treatment No:1) Take the following for about 2 weeks:
* Metronidazole (tablets)
* Fluconazole (tablets)
* Hydrocortisone (cream)
NOTE: The first 3-4 nights it will still itch like crazy! I suggest you put something like Vicks vaporub to stop yourself from scratching (either conciously or unconciously). This is very important or it will take longer to heal.
Treatment No.2) Only if cure 1 doesn't work. (Trust me, I have tried sooo much to try and cure it over the last 6 years or so)
* Minocycline (tablets)
* Hydrocortisone (cream)
NOTE: I tried these before and they are strong, but didn't last for me. After less than 2 days the itching stopped completely and started to heal. I took these for a few weeks and everything was going well. Then I stopped and about 3 days later it came back. I don't recommend you try this unless the first treatment didn't work.
Anyway that sums it up. Seems like we are all experiencing the same symptoms but I'm not a doctor so I can't really say if it was the same as what I got.
After so many years of trial and error I finally got it right and I hope this post will help as many people as possible. Again, I'm no doctor so I don't know why or how this worked. It just did.
Good Luck Guys!
