I'm a healthy 35 year old male who had succesfull Lasik 4 years ago.I've had binocular diplopia for at least a month or so. I went to the eye doctor yesterday and he said the cause is an irregualr astigmatism. Now I have to wait 7-10 days for my glasses. I got curious when I got home and did some internet searching and found many serious causes of binocular diplopia. It scared the heck outta me. My eye doctor didn't seem to do a more detailed exam than normal, and didn't seem very concerned, he just said he'd give me a prescription for glasses. Is an irregular astigmatism a very common cause of binocular diplopia? Am I being a worry wart?
I have astigmatism for years and of course I can't get rid of it when I am not listening my doctor like I should. I must wear hard contact lenses but there is no way. I am crying every time when I am putting them on and taking them off so I am considering LASIK as well.
My friend did it and she is very satisfied. But before she did it she was researching on the internet and after she had read some stories she wanted to give up. So my advice to you is to stop freaking out and if you have some more worries just ask your doctor and tell him what is bothering you. Good luck and keep us posted.
