22 years old. I have irregular periods...they're always a few days more or less than the last one. This month it's a week late tomorrow and I'm getting nervous. I've had a few cramps, but that's it. I took a pregnancy test a few days ago that came back negative. I've been sick twice this month as well as starting a new, very physically exhausting job. So I don't know if that could be it or...idk...

deff pregnat...yup

You don't give enough information to make a proper judgement, but it could be just a delayed or a missed period.

  1. What was the date of your last period start?
  2. What is your cycle length usually (typically 28 days)?
  3. On what dates have you had sex over the last month?

Uum...Last period was 3-27. Cycle is about 30 days-ish...it goes up and down by two or three days. And...sex...like...11 times this last month: 1, 2, 7, 8, 11,12,14, 22, 25, and 26. (I'm married)

As you are married, I am delighted you have frequent sex! So important to maintain a healthy marriage.
You seem to have had sex during your fertile time, so the possibility of pregnancy arises, and the negative test might have been too early. If your cycle for this month is 32 days, then your period would not have been expected until 28 April. That is only 5 days ago, and you took the test "a few days ago". I suggest taking another test.
Are you trying to get pregnant?

Well...no we're not. I mean...I'm sure my husband would be ecstatic if we could...but I'm certainly not ready to raise a baby. Oh...and the sickness was food poisoning. I thought it was helpful to add because I thought physical stress affected a woman's period.

How long should I wait until I take the test again?

Dear Kia

A test is best left until after a period has failed to arrive. As your cycle is 30 days (+/- 3 days) you probably took the test at about the time a period would have been expected (you didn't say what date you took it).

By now, it should probably be OK, and is likely to be accurate, if your cycle was in the normal range.

However, as you have been having a stressful time, your cycle may have been affected whereby you ovulated much later that your usual range. Or you may have not ovulated at all. As you are having sex regularly (presumably unprotected), if you ovulated a week later than usual, then that would not only put the related period back a week, but also move the fertility time-frame a week. I think it would probably be best to leave the test until after the weekend.

I hope this helps. If I have not explained it clearly enough, please ask again.
