I started the depo shot beginning of Feb 2017 that month I didn't get my period but the next month in march I bled continuously and still bleeding I don't think I'm going to get the second shot! I also keep experiencing cramping! I hate it and wouldn't recommend the depo to anyone! I can't wait to get this fully out of my body!!!

Have you been checked for bone loss? Depo provera has a high risk of causing bone loss in women. That is why women are not supposed to stay on depo for more than two years, and you've been on it for eight? If your doctor has not warned you about this, I would get a new one right away.

I've been on depo for nearly 3 years now for extreme cramps, heavy bleeding, and ovarian cysts (switching back to the pill on the 13th due to bone density issues).
This past month, I've noticed a drastic change in my weight and mood.

My last period lasted 16 days; old blood, no pain, barely enough to stain a pad) and now, about 5 days later, I'm having some sharp pains and cramps in my lower abdominal area.

No more bleeding, no tenderness in my breasts or anything, but i am extremely sensitive mood wise and my sex drive is off the chain

I took depo in 1999 and could not have a child for 10 years. It really messed up my system. I had a child in 2010 and another in 2014.

It depends entirely on the person receiving the depo. I've been on the injection for 4 years and not once have I bled, gained weight or experienced ANY side effects for that matter. I would recommend it based on my experience.

I was on depo for less than a year when I was 23. At age 25, my doctor tested my hormone levels and retested them bc they were so low. I have been on Hormone Replacement Therapy ever since I was 25. I was also found to have no eggs left. All my doctors were confused because I had never stopped having my periods, and yet, I had no eggs and my hormone levels were that of a women post menopause. I think it was the depo shot since it was new at the time. This was in 1998. I am 47 now. They checked me for 15 years with ultrasounds and all kinds of bloodwork and biopsies. I do not have PCOS or any other disease assosciated with premature ovarian failure or egg insufficiency. My periods were always very regular prior to, during and after depo. I am wondering if the same thing or something similar has happened to anyone else?
