I had just gotten the depo shot not too long ago and let me tell you, as soon as I can I am switching to the pill, the only real benefit I'm having is not having to remember but maybe I'll think about the patch instead. The shot doesn't hurt, but I have been cramping really bad, my face use to be very clear and now its full of acne. So far I am throwing up a lot, and I'm always dead tried. I hope the side affects kinda go away soon, since i'm planning on taking a vaca with my bf. I don't wanna be dead tired on a vaca O.o
But I guess everyone is different I just hope these side affects go away soon. I had heard it had a lot of side affects but everyone is different. So I thought I would try it but if I don't get better I'm callin my doctor.

I received the depo shot for the first time in April. Now it's May and my period was a little delayed. I started worrying, but then I got it however it was a little abnormal. For example it is super light. After reading everyone's post I'm truly worried. However since I first got it the only effects I feel are light cramps, no bleeding, increased appetite, and fatigue.  If this is all i expireince I wouldn't mind this shot. So I guess I will see...

well i kind of agree on what they said because i can truly say that the shot is not for me! i had a little girl on May 11, 2011 and i didn't get a 6 weeks check up and had to wait a 9 weeks before i saw a doctor. i had d&c operation like my 10th week after my little one and i have tryed all kinds of birth control pills and even the depo shot and nothing has stop me from bleeding! it is now may 2012 and i have been on depo for almost 6 months and nothing has stopped me from bleeding since i had my daughter. i have been bleeding a entire year non stop and it is killing me and now ny doctor is talking about a histeroctommy and i am only 19 years old and soon to be 20 in a couple of days i am just to young for that! now tell me what you think about that! cause therefore the shot is not for everyone!

"My Dr. examined me and said that it is most likely that my body can't handle the amount of estrogen the shot contains."

Are you sure about this? Depo does not contain any estrogen, only synthetic progesterone.

I agree that everybody is defferent but if you say don't listen too everyone's experienes why listen to yours. Everybody should have thier say. My experiences was good the 1st time I took the shot 4 years ago. Started back on depo 3 1/2 month ago. Started out fine until 3 weeks before my next shot started bleeding june 21st it's now july 13th. I've been on my period for 22 days now with severe pain. Got 2nd shot on july2nd because dr. said it would stop it didn't. I asked to go back on pills and I have to wait 3 months and bleed. Dr. said as long as I'm not going through a pad every hour I'm fine doesn't sound good to me, so listen to other's good or bad and than ask Dr. for more detills.

Well My Entire Deposit Experience Was Pure Hell. I Had Suicidal Thoughts, I Had Every Pregnancy Symptom Possible, & I Bled Heavy For 9 Months Strong. I Finally Went To See A Doctor On Wednesday & He Prescribed Me Some BC Pills Called "Cylafem". I Threw Up My First Day Taking Them, But I Am Now Pad Free! It Only Took Two Pills For My Nightmare To Be Over. I Hope All Of You Have As Much Luck As I Did!. Feel Free To Email Me

The depo provera shot does not contain estrogen. They contain progesterone. I would recommend getting another doctor.

I was on this for 2 years, never had my period and I thought all was ok, I actually liked it, I didn't get hormonal at all ( I did however lose all interest in sex ) whilst getting my shots I was great. My last injection was in sept 11, as I was getting married and me and my husband wanting to try have a baby.

I understood that it could take awhile for my body to return to normal and fall, but I have had nothing but problems.

I finally got my period again in April 12 which I was getting every second week on the dot, lasting for exactly a week. In June 12 it finally started monthly and on time ( to my calendar, as I was tracking this and ovulation ) I noticed when i was ovulating I was bloated, bad constipation, even hurt to pass wind, back pains, spotting and all these weird pains. I read up on it and it all kinda sounded normal. Last month it got worse, The pains, and symtoms - when I read up again on it it lead me to signs of endometriosis. I was worried as I have 95% of symtoms. I went to the doctors and they dismissed everything I had to say ( wasnt happy as I and in pain 24/7 - something is wrong )

So i seen another doctor which sent me for an ultrasound - found a cyst that had ruptured. I now still have pains all day - lower pelvic area and right side under ribs.

I have not had my period ( besides spotting  last month through ovlation ) it has been 40 days since my last proper period - I have a blood test done for pregnancy and it was neg.

Iam worried that It has caused issues to fall pregnant.
