Hey guys. Soo I had unprotected sex while on birth control, and I think I have issues about being pregnant. I DO NOT WANT TO BE PREGNANT. So..this might be my mind playing games on me but I have multiple pregnancy symptoms and to me, it looks like my abdomen is growing. I get really really bloated fast after I eat... I had multiple home pregnancy tests from 15 dpo to 46 dpo, all came back negative yet I still had symptoms.
I recently got a blood test at 8 weeks, and it came back negative.
Is there any chance I still could be pregnant? OH ALSO, I am getting withdrawal bleeding at the correct time every month. I asked for an ultrasound because i want to be relieved DEFINITELY of this stress but doctor said no...:-(
What worries me is..i'm on accutane so if i get pregnant, i get a mutant baby.
Soo..is there any chance of me being pregnant still?

Hi Kat,
It is EXTREMELY unlikely that you are pregnant after having a negative blood test at 8 weeks.
If you are seeing a normal period, then no, you are not pregnant. The lining of your uterus is shed, there would be no place for the embryo to attach to develop.
Trust your doctor.
Hope it helps.

Herllo thank you for the reply.
And yes on birth control I am having regular bleeding that comes at the right time. BUT! I read on a website that someone through experience had regular monthly withdrawal bleeding on birth control yet were still pregnant. Is that even possible? Wouldn't the progesterone of the corpus luteum override the birth control progesterone amounts?
Thanks!

Hi Kat,
While they may have had some bleeding it is unlikely that it was the same regular bleeding that they always had. There should be much less material.
It does sometime happen that you get some bleeding around your normal period when implantation occurs. If you are seeing bleeding, later in the pregnancy, then it needs to be evaluated.
Progesterone in the birth control pills works by blocking sperm. At 8 weeks the placenta would be making the progesterone.
The test that the doctor would have used looks for a specific hormone, hCG, in your blood. The HPT's also look for this hormone in your urine. It is made by the embryo and the production increases rapidly as it develops. This same hormone would maintain the progesterone levels and prevents the breakdown of the corpus luteum.
My best advice it to recheck with your doctor. Without a physical exam and a blood test it is not possible to say if you are or are not pregnant. From your past tests I find it unlikely that you are pregnant.
I'm sorry but at this point I'd trust the test results.

Hi Jade,
It can take a while, coming off of Depo, for your periods to return to normal.
If you had tests back in May and none since, retest.
Good luck.
Ive also got a bloated stomuch all day.
