Hi! I have had pain behind my left rib cage of and on for several years. For the past three months the pain has been very intense. I went to the doctor, and had a CT scan of my lower abdomen. They discovered that I have a calcified cyst on my spleen. I don't think there is an answer for the pain, however I am praying for a miracle. There's no easy way to fix it, so God will have to do it for me.

I have had this issue and have researched some. If you have ever had adult mono ( you'll feel tired, under the weather, some throat pain ect.), it attacks the spleen and can cause discomfort. I have also read that this can affect you and your spleen long after the mono is gone. Ive heard some say you never fully recover from adult mono.

You could and most likely have mono. I have it right now and you should go get a blood test to know for sure.

I have recently been diagnosed with severely low B12, and now I have a stuffy nose/sore throat. I was thinking maybe I had mono, but I'm glad I saw your post. It must be the B12 deficiency. Thanks for sharing!

I have similar pains on and off and feel that they're almost muscular and takes a long time to heal because of its location. I find relaxing flushing with water and taking Ginger helps dilute and Digest anything stuck up in there. Really hoping this works as I do a lot of Labor and don't really like going to the doctor LOL

Im curious as to what permanent damage it may have caused. I was diagnosed with EBV last year but from what i read there's really not much you can do except change you eating habits. Can you tell me if I should be worri d about my gallbladder as well, and what other effects this disease has on our bodies. Plz

My spleen enlarged last year and when I went I was told I had and uperrespitory infection when I actually had mono for two months straight and didn’t know, so I believe it’s mono. My spleen is now enlarged again and we don’t know why I wasn’t sick when it started enlarging but now I am. It’s been enlarged for a little over a month because my doctor couldn’t get me in any sooner . Any suggestions on why it may be enlarging randomly ? I’m also had really bad pain .

Hey there - I know its been a while but look into Epstein-Barr Virus. When it becomes active it leads to overproduciton of antibodies, which the spleen and liver are responsible for. Its one of the most common reasons for spleen enlargement, yet I never see it on any message boards.
