The spleen is an organ in the body that drains toxins from the body and helps to defend against infection. While the spleen is a relatively resilient organ, certain conditions can lead to severe pain. One of the most common causes is a bacterial, parasitic, or viral infection. Typically, this is the most treatable type of spleen pain, as it can usually be cured through various prescription medications. In addition, rapid tumor growth can cause pain in the spleen that requires immediate treatment. Pain caused by a direct trauma should also be treated with care, as it can lead to the development of internal bleeding. In general, those who experience pain in the upper left of the abdomen, where the spleen is located, should seek medical assistance as soon as possible.
One of the most common causes of spleen pain is an infection. Typically, this pain ranges from moderate to severe and comes on relatively rapidly. Spleen infections can be relatively serious and should be treated as such, and they require medical assistance as soon as possible. While antibiotics and other types of prescription medications may be sufficient to treat this condition, in some cases, more aggressive methods may be required.
Try milk thistle with artichoke, vitamin C, digestive enzymes and virgin coconut oil. These all help. They have coconut oil capsules too, if you can't stand the taste of virgin coconut oil. I take Fruitrients.
Thank you so much for your post Mike, it was very reassuring. I had pulled some muscles in a work related activity just under my rib cage on both sides, so I was hoping that it had to do with that. The right side muscle pain went away after about a week, but the left one is still there after a month (except that discomfort type of feeling replaced the pain) and I started to worry that there may be something wrong with my spleen or something growing there. (I'm guessing that these types of injuries can happen from being sick and coughing too much as well?) Thanks again!
I have a similar thing going on. I am only having spasms in the lower left ribcage area though. No pain just ongoing spasms all day long. started about 3 days ago. I'm not fighting a cold or flu right now either.
so sorry I have been reading through alot of info on this subject and have found many that suggest a blood donation as a process of elimanation not a fix...I find it totatly selfish if a non healthy person donates blood for this or any other reason when not feeling well.
It may be inflamation of the chest wall...costochondritis.....my doc gave me a few samples of Vimova 500mg/20mg naproxen/esomeprazole magnesium...after a couple of days it eased up. The feeling has come back again, but I have a very physical job that affects my left side, so it is recurring. Assuming that it is the costochondritis doing this to me. I have had the symptoms of most of the responders here. My CT showed nodule on spleen and nodule on bottom of right lung. It is scary, not knowing what is going on. Am having another ct in August to check that whole area again for nodule growth changes, etc. I encourage all of you to keep pushing your healthcare professionals to find the answers. Help them help you. Do your research and bring that info with you to doctor. You may have symptoms that would qualify you for your insurance to cover other tests that your primary hasn't ordered. It is worth a try. Good luck to all and hope you feel better.
