this just happened to me tonight .. it felt like I swallowed wrong, I began choking and could not get any air in and was extremely loud as I tried to inhale I could not get any air in I honestly thought i was going to die. after about 5 long gasps with all the muscle i had trying to inhale I started to cough and gradually i began to get more air but still struggling to breath after about 5 mins I was back to normal ....I was at work when it happened and I was alone i didnt know what to do i was trying to get my cell phone to call 911 and Honestly didnt think I was going to make it . terrifying is putting it lightly .... I dont understand how my throat would close up like that ..never want to go through that again ever! does anyone know what this might be?
Did you feel and panic or worry prior to this happening. I'm wondering if it may have been a panic attack, sometimes they just come out of nowhere. You may need some relaxation techniques to help in case it should ever happen again.
This is exactly what happened to me and to my daughter. It was scaring moment. in my mind I took it as allergic reaction to something. I painted the ceiling of my bedroom and sealed it with paint and from that moment we have not experience that again. Check if there is dust particles from your ceiling.
This exact thing has happened to me, three times in six months. I couldn't breathe and thought I was going to die too. I've read several posts here and there's been no solutions. I do have a hiatal hernia with reflex and am seeing my doctor soon.
The same incident has happened to me several times over about 7 years. The choking fits have lasted as long as 2.5 minutes and each time I am left more terrified than before. This happens with saliva, water even food. I have been to several ENTs and the can't find a reason for this. Also my throat is constantly sore/hoarse and feels swollen all of the time. I am left feeling that at some point I am going to die from whatever this condition is and they will find out about it after my demise. Anybody familiar with this? I do not have acid reflux nor do I have thyroid problems.
