Just thought I'd throw my voice on this, I'm 23 and I've just started having itchy breasts, its been going on now for about a month maybe a little longer, I've used coca butter (I have stretch marks from when I first grew breasts rather quickly, and for scars I have on them due to car accident) didn't work, I used regular lotion didn't work, I don't believe its the washer detergent, I've been using the same brand for many years now, I changed to the kind for allergies due to step son having problems with it. My bras are the right size, I just got sized in september of this year and bought two new bras in that size. I don't dry my bras in the drier either. No history of eczema or dry skin, live in Middle TN, I am on birth control and it does have a side affect of breast swelling but my bras sill fit correctly so I know that hasn't happened yet oh, and I have 36D breasts wish the were smaller honestly. Any advice would be awesome!!

Hey I'm 19 years old and have also been experiencing itching onto of my breast,my breast them selves, arm pit area and my back, I really do wonder if it is the VS bra's but they haven't given me a problem before, I've tried to apply different kinds of lotion but the problem seems to be getting worse! so glad to know I'm not alone!

I am 24 years old and a couple months ago I started getting itchy breasts as well. I have large breasts aswell (36D). I think one day I just started feeling very itchy around one of my nipples and once I started scratching I couldn't stop. Since then I have this problem frequently (not daily but at least a few times a week). Usually now I get the itchyness on the top half of my breasts and I try my hardest not to scratch it but it becomes unbearable and I HAVE to scratch it...and usually once I start scratching it is very very difficult to stop, to the point where I can see the blood vessals under the skin. While I am glad that i'm not alone with this problem I am wondering if it could be something serious and if I should talk to a doctor about it?

I am 39 years old and have been having itchy breasts fr at least a month now. I started below the breasts and now it is all over and the nipples now are wanting to be itched. This causes them to bleed, which burns. I also itch around the back exactly where my bra strap crosses. I wear Victoria secrets bras and have for 4 years now. I recently bought a new VS bra and I splurged, urged by a girlfriend to buy a bra just as cute for cheaper. I wear the VS bra mostly but everyonce in a while I wear the new Turquoise one....I have worn this bra interchangeable with the VS for about two and helf months now but the itching started about a month ago. I too itch until I want to rip them off. It gets worse in the hot shower. The skin has thickened into a red patch under my breasts. I do not wash my bras that often. I am not large breasted and do not sweat under my breasts.(32B) Except when working out and I wear a sports bra for that. I have never had a mammogram but have been really intuned to getting one this year. I go to my doctor at the end of this month and I will ask him about this. I am leaning towards the fungus. But with no sweating much, I can't see how that happens. The next culprit would be the occasional new bra, since I have worn the same exact VS brand bra for three years. I buy a new one each year. The only thing I can think of with the VS bras is that it now has some new chemical in the padding. I have been noticing less itching, but when it does happen I can be anywhere, even in a resteraunt and I have to itch. Is it mental, or just the thought of it makes you itch. I know this, it is not normal and then only time this has happened to me before was when i was taking an antibiotic with Sulfur products in it and found out that I can't take sulfur antibiotics anymore because i had an allergic reaction. Could it be too much Sulfur in some foods I have eaten recently? I am searching that one out too. I am bewildered, and scared. I do a breast exam on my self often and I do not feel any lumps, but I guess it is time for that mammogram. I JUST WANT IT TO STOP!!!!!

same stories as others. large breasted, itchy on and around areola area. tried every cream, ointment, cortisone cream, and even tea tree oil, all help temporarily and then itchiness comes back day or night. sometimes go days without any itchiness. had it for 4 months now...

originally suspected, it came from a new foam bra I bought in the States. stopped wearing them, but still have the itching.

examine myself regularly and get mammograms yearly.

what to do?

I have had the same problem and had everything checked out. Turns out all I needed was vitamin D. I was very very low and my skin especially my breast itched and my joints and muscles ached alot. After taking Vitamin D for a few months all symptoms are gone. Thank goodness

Goodness, there seems to be quite a few of us! So, I thought I'd jump on the wagon and join you! :-) Too bad, there doesn't seem to be a solution to the problem.

Me: Mid-thirties, large breasts (38DD), itching started about 4 months ago. Not every day, maybe once or twice a week. I thought it might be my detergent, but since I haven't had the itching anywhere else, it doesn't quite make sense. Could be my bras, but I haven't bought any new ones lately, and have never had this happen before with the older ones.

I did mention this to a few friends, and one said she had the same experience when her breasts started getting stretch marks. (she was pregnant at the time). I am not pregnant, but maybe have gained some weight, so this could be. (DAMN)

The itching seems to be just in my right breast, sort of like a piece of pie (gained weight, ha!) lower right side, including the nipple. I have a few times scratched it so hard that I bled. One time, I didn't even know that I had scratched that hard, and woke up the next morning with a few scabs. (gross, I know, but true).

Have no idea why this started, but have an appt. with my dr. and hoping that she'll know what to say about it.

To the 13-year-old poster from awhile back -- Given all those symptoms, it is advisable that you see a doctor soon (if you haven't already).

%-) OMG...I decided to Google this problem Ive been having with my breasts as well and I found so many women who have the same problem. This scares me! Its been about 6 months of intense itching where I sometimes end up with serious scratch marks all over my breasts. There must be a logical explanation. From my research, I have found that we have become the dumping grounds for toxic chemicals as Europe and many other countries have banned over 200 of these chemicals in their own countries. Doesn't it seem likely that something in our underclothing or our detergent is causing a reaction? How can we pursue this?

Actually, I have been told that itchy breasts are a sign of breast growth.

I am currently 17 years old and has had an itching problem with my breasts for almost 5 months now. It began at the nipples and now has radiated out throughout my whole breasts. I don't know if there is a problem with having larger size breasts because I do have a size of 34D but that didn't really seem to look like the problem because my cousin has a 32A cup and she has had this problem also. People recommend cocoa butter but even when I apply lotion, the itching does not stop. It has began to be a little unbearable. I think it may be the Victoria's Secret bra but I don't know and need an answer. What can I do?

Hi there "Itchy in Oz". I too am Itchy in Oz - live in Queensland, wear D or DD sized bras (depending on bra brand), and have very itchy breasts! I have had itchy breasts on and off for ALMOST TEN YEARS now (now 23 years old) and am not overweight (healthy weight range). I have had eczema/skin problems all my life. When the breast itchiness started initially (approx 14 years of age), it healed relatively quickly. I had infrequently-recurring breast itchiness (although much less intense) up until about 2 years ago (2007 or 2008) when it started up again, badly. It became so bad that my breasts (areola and nipple areas on both breasts) would bleed red blood and also leak plasma/serum. I had to wear disposable bra pads but because they stuck to my breasts as the blood/plasma/serum dried, it wasn't really healing. After overcoming initial embarrassment, I saw the GP and got a referral to see a dermatologist, who prescribed both oral and topical medication to heal the sores. Initially, it appeared to 'fully heal', but in the last two years, it has really been cyclical and recurring very quickly. The medication I took for my breast seems to have made the skin thinner and therefore breaks more easily with only a slight scratch now (as opposed to my usual vigorous rubbing). The dermatologist did mention that a side effect of the topical prescribed medication (applied directly to the affected nipple/areola areas) was that the skin would become thinner. Now, the tears/infected parts are in a slightly different area of the areola - but I feel I don't know what to do. I want to be able to breastfeed my children (when I have children) but am scared that this will now be a lifelong problem. I am so scared and embarrassed! ~ Dermatological dilemmas

please tell mom or parent. I think you should see a doctor. don't talk too much about your young age and personal info on the internet. a lot of perverts out there. just be careful on the internet.
