I also have very itchy breasts currently! Probably for about 3 weeks or more now, and it is driving me nuts. There was (about week 2) some eczema-type skin, and i have been using an intensive moisturiser, and it is not getting much less itchy! however it is less itchy than when I first noticed it, when i would have to slyly devise ways of scratching them in public. But still they are itchy. I don't think it is my bra, and i have been examining for eczema and i see non really. anyone got any ideas?

It is a common feature to a women's breast's to be itchy and sore, because for different reason, some harmful some not, or some because of development and some for if you are on your period! A good source of information, is to check your breast's for any lumps first if so, go directly to your GP because that could be a sign of breast cancer! These are the reasons it could be! Mastitis Mastitis is an infection of breast tissue which commonly occurs during breastfeeding. Some of the other symptoms of this infection include redness, swelling, increased breast temperature levels, and pain. Breast engorgement and a fever or chills can also occur with mastitis. Yeast Infection Some women may experience a yeast infection underneath the breasts. It is most common during summer, as the woman is more prone to sweating and yeast tends to breed in warm, moist areas. Wearing tight clothing and sleeping with a bra at night can worsen the problem. Itching, pain and a red rash are the most common symptoms of a breast yeast infection. Inflammatory Breast Cancer Inflammatory breast cancer can be harder to diagnose than other types of breast cancer because lumps are not generally a symptom. It is very common for inflammatory breast cancer to be mistaken for a breast infection. Symptoms aside from breast itching include breast pain, swelling, skin changes (pink or red areas which thicken in texture), a bruise that doesn't heal, nipple discharge, and nipple retraction. The lymph nodes in the neck or under the arm may become swollen. Paget's Disease of the Breast Like inflammatory breast cancer, the symptoms of Paget's disease of the breast may be easily mistaken for a breast infection. This disease is a very rare form of breast cancer. It affects the nipple and areola. Some of the symptoms of this cancer include flaky or scaly nipple skin, redness, a burning feeling, and a lump underneath the nipple and areola. The nipple may appear flat or inverted. The skin of nipple and/or the areola may harden, ooze or become crusty. There may be changes in the skin early on, so it may appear as though the symptoms are going away. It is important to keep in mind that there are a number of skin conditions, which may not be directly related to the breasts, that can also cause breast itching. Eczema, fungal infections and contact dermatitis (or a rash which occurs when the skin is exposed to allergens) can also cause a woman to experience breast itching. Consider whether or not you have recently switched to a new soap or laundry detergent, as this may be the cause of your breast itching. If symptoms persist or worsen and/or are accompanied by nipple discharge, it is ideal to visit a doctor.

I have finally found the source of my itchy right breast and thought I would share it with you all in case any of you have the same issue. About a year ago (October 2011), my right nipple started itching, I just assumed it was something to do with the dry weather as winter was coming. By May, I figured it had to be something else but didn't know what. There was no rash or markings on the skin and aside from the urge to scratch my nipple off there were no visible signs of discomfort. I was slathering it with hydrating creams and oils in hopes that something would help, but it only gave temporary relief. By July, I went to the doctor about a separate issue, and mentioned my issue with my right nipple and how long it had been bothering me. He told me to go by some anti-fungal cream as he figured I had a yeast infection. After 2 weeks, the yeast cream wasn't offering any more relief than the lotions had and I went back to the clinic. The doctor I saw that time gave me a prescription for Topicort. I thought it was helping as the itch was reduced, but after a month if i wasn't applying the cream twice a day the itch would return. I put up with the itch for a few more weeks, but by mid September, I had a new symptom, my right breast was aching and there was a hot burning pain shooting into my armpit. Also, my lymph nodes in my armpit and neck were aching on the right side. I couldn't at the time find any lumps, but I still worried about cancer as every time I Googled itchy boobs and sore lymph nodes the topics were "cancer cancer cancer." I went to the clinic again, and this time a female doctor recommended I go get some Lugol's iodine (third doctor to not examine my breasts though). After three days on the iodine, the aching/burning pain in my breast subsided a lot, but the itch was still there. Then, one night while searching for lumps I found one, it was the size of a chicken egg and located on the outer right-side of my right breast, it was so big I don't know how I hadn't come across it yet! I compared it to the same part of my breast on the left side, and sure enough this was an odd lump. It was egg shaped and felt like hard rubber when I squeezed it. As I grabbed a hold of it, it suddenly disappeared and was followed by a sudden aching pain in my armpit and neck nodes again. I went to the doctor the next day and he sent me for an ultrasound. No cancer in my breast or armpit, but likely a cyst. A fluid-filled cyst that I had popped, gushing into my lymphs (and is likely to return with my next cycle - though hadn't stopped itching even after popping!). I was told to continue on my iodine and start taking evening primrose oil, and I am happy to say that within 5 days of taking evening primrose oil the itching was completely gone!
