Yes, Hard to believe this is all "mostly" cause from sweating too much. LOL!! But it does happen, to a lot of people. I had this and came here trying to just figure out what it was. And I took your "everyones" advice and soon I felt much better. So I had to post something, mostly a big THANK YOU!!!
The cream is good, stick to it!
And by all means. Try not to scratch after you started your creaming. Itches also mean the skin is trying to heal. Also before putting on your cream. Pat a wet cloth around the infected area to clean it, do not rub or else you will just make it mad.
And the post about a warm bath is great, yea it stings! But it really does help it stay clean. After the bath apply your cream.
I suffered strictly around the rectum, and I do mean suffered. And I know too well about itching in your sleep. "I had to wear oven mitts tied at the wrist" All because one night I had a bad itch attack and two of my finger tips were covered in blood. "I was so scared and I swore never again" But in my case I knew I had to wear those mitts. It didn't matter how trimmed down my nails were, I would just rub and rub and rub. And that is just as bad as itching.
Anyways, Anyone who reads this thread, Please listen to it and I hope it helps you as it helped me.
Best of luck and thank you to all who posted before me.

i have had sucess suppressing it with zinc based diaper rash creams ...and whoever said use vics vapour rub is definitely onto something... as a last resort i have used bengay back rub which contains an ingreadient that heats up the flesh to an almost unbearable temperature and seems to kill whatever it was that caused the rash.

YOU have to use hydrocotisone OINTMENT (not the cream!!). The cream has alcohol in it and will make things worse. The ointment has no alcohol and will work if you use it a few times a day for a week. :-)

I have had this problem for 10 yrs.
i have the redness of the skin and a rotting flesh odour at the end of the day.
i put it down to sweat, i used to wear wet weather gear all day on my motorcycle, keeping my crotch wet.
other than freestyling i cannot get on top of it, ive been told natural yoghurt will help and will give lamasil a go.
another way i feel it could have spread is from my same wet, now half rotten feet.
on my feet it is called 'pitted keratolosys'
maybe its related also, from washing my feet then my crotch with the same soap?
hope that helps although im still suffering until i can afford the time off to fix it properly, hence the reason ive had it for 10 yrs!
it seems worse in winter for some reason too.

I'm currently in China working. I woke up Tuesday morning with itchy scrotum and red blotches on my inner thighs.... today my scrotum has lots of wrinkles. Mostly red all over but a few brown patches. I have used Clotimazole cream which soothes the irritation. The only cause I can find is that I was using my laptop in bed for a few hours on Monday night and sweating of course in the 38c heat.
I dont really want to go to a Chinese doctor.
Can anyone help
Thanks

its now been 2 weeks for me , i thought it was from shaving my pubes off my testicles , but it seems its something else. its red along the inner thighs and red just before it gets to my anus. i had a couple bumps there too , but those seem to have gone away and then small bumps on one side of my inner thigh formed. is this jock itch ? could a hot bath cure it ? i do wash this area all the time , so i dont understand anything. i started to notice it while being with my gf , but wasnt doing anything for a while , not having sex i mean , and then i noticed the rash ,,, so i just thought it was from shaving , but apprently it isnt. so to everyone , whats the best medicine for me to do to get rid of this ? what should i try ? should i go to the doctor or just try a over the counter medicine ???
please help , thanx

There is something that lots of guys have and the medical profession is totally clueless. I have the exact same condition and nothing so far as made any improvement. I have used several anti-fungals, steroids, Vick's, hydrocortosone, powders, aloe, tincture of iodine and have been to three doctors. I now know it is not fungus, scabies, or any thing else in the medical books. I have had penicillin and taken lamsil. Nothing makes any difference. I believe we will never be cured. The doctors just don't know and some are hesitant to properly treat this area of the body.

stop eating bread and wheat products, as well as sugary stuff like soda, and even diet soda, for like 2 weeks. Just eat vegetables, chicken, nuts, eggs, fruits and yogurt try not to eat really processed stuff too. and see if that clears it up. I didn't eat anything but that stuff for a few months and it and my dandruff went away, but then i got busy and started eating burgers and fast food again and it all came back really really hard.

Ok guys....here's the deal. What you likely have is NOT an STD, NOT common Jock Itch, and DEFINITELY NOT SCABIES!! lol. What you have (and Ive had it myself TWICE before, and am again right now) is a FUNGAL INFECTION! Fungus is alot harder to get rid of than bacteria, and regular jock itch products like Lamosil are HIGHLY UNLIKELY to permanently solve your problem. Inner thighs, butt cracks, and scrotums are sweaty, confined, and usually at least semi-sweaty areas. Dark and moist breeds FUNGUS...just like mushrooms in caves. Fungus susceptibility is often also related to overall health and immunology...meaning, the better shape/healthier you are, the greater your body's ability to fight off or resist fungal infections. Many people develop secondary Yeast (which IS fungus) infections immediately AFTER a course of antibiotics... this is because the antibiotics suppress your body's own immune system to kill bacteria, then make you more susceptible to fungus. It can be an ugly circle for some.
Additionally, there is no "ideal" home-made treatment method... while it is true that "DRY" is generally better than "MOIST", alcohol and baby powder alone is generally not sufficient.
What I really suggest you do is SEE A DERMATOLOGIST. I know its embarrassing to stroll your leathery red ballsac into a Dr.'s office (particularly if they are a SHE..lol), but its really the best method. These things can really LINGER, so the sooner you get the right treatment the sooner your junk is back in service. What they may well recommend (and has worked for me in the past) is a very strong (RX Only) antibacterial detergent wash like Phisohex, and a topical antifungal cream like a DESONIDE/GENTOMYCIN mix. Even using this it could take as long as 2-3 weeks for the symptoms to totally disappear. I would definitely NOT recommend using any creams, salves, or lotions that are not specifically designed for fungus... hydrocortisone, antibiotic ointments, baby rash creams, and moisturizing lotions definitely WILL only make your problem worse.
Id also be interested in knowing how many (if any) of you also experience some degree of underskin "cysts" or boils in the inner thigh area or on the cheeks of your butt. Many of these originally arise as hair follicles that become inflamed or ingrown, and much like a pimple or zit; can become infected deep down the hair shaft....creating an underskin "cyst" or core. These periodically flare up, become very sore, and when squeezed or popped produce a grotesque mixture of blood and pus. They often get better or totally disappear after these periodic "bloodlettings", but generally return again later in the same exact spots. I have actually had 2 minor outpatient "surgeries" to remove the cores of these, and the ones removed have never come back in the same exact spots, yet I have 2-3 more spots that occasionally flare up as well. I was told that the "infection" present in these (as are most skin infections) is actually Staph, but that they are NOT Mersa. What Im trying to determine here is whether there is ANY CONNECTION between these infectuous "cysts", and the inner thigh/scrotal rashes, as the rashes sometimes seem to sometimes appear immediately AFTER the "popping" of one of these "cysts". This seems semi-contradictory however, as the cysts are Staph (which is a bacteria), and the rashes are usually fungal in nature.
Feedback appreciated.

I had this recently and am still getting over it. I used to just use over the counter stuff and it worked fine, but this time it didn't go away with lamisil so I got some kind of powder for it off amazon and that didnt work. I also got some anti-fungal soap and used all that. It was just a little spot on my thigh at first but it got bigger and another spot appeared on the other side so I went to the dermatologist. He gave me ketoconazole cream and that didn't work after using it the prescribed amount of time, but seemed to get better but didn't fully go away. Then I used a ketoconazole gel(xolagel) that also seemed to be working better after using it a week or so, but I was only using samples from the derm and when I went to get the full prescription they no longer make the stuff apparently.. so instead he prescribed a ketoconazole foam(extina) that I am currently using. It cleared up the patches on my inner thighs, but somehow the rash has spread to my sack and is being difficult going away. I sweat there alot and haven't been able to keep from scratching it, so that extina foam REALLY burns when I put it on. I am hoping it clears in the next week or so, or I am going to have to go back for something else. Some tips to stay drier that I have found are using a blow dryer to dry the area really well when you get out of the shower before applying any medicine. Also kind of embarrasing, but I've been using some thick wash rags to tuck between my scrotum and thighs at night and sometimes when I'm just sitting around to keep the area drier and it helps from sweat accumulating and causing itch.
