I have suffered from itchy fingers, toes and heels for six years. I have seen numerous doctors and gotten many opinions, but I am not sure the last one is correct. The current dermatologist is more determined than anyone else to find out what's wrong. He was sure it was dyshidrosis when I saw him a year ago. I saw him again several weeks ago and he said the same thing. I got a prednisone shot, pills and cream. It got better, then worse, etc... I saw him this past week and he noticed my purple toes, which I have had off and on, with and without the itching. He did a battery of blood tests, no results yet. He is checking for a condition that causes blood to thicken in the cold weather (Raynaud's maybe?). Raynaud's has been one of my diagnoses over the years.

He gave me a script for an ointment, which I have used and it provides no relief from the itching, so I am back to the steroid cream.

My fingers and toes are inflamed in the morning when I wake up, enough that it's hard to bend them. There are not so noticeable red bumps that itch. My skin seems to shrink as the day goes on, then it's dry and cracks.

I am at my wit's end, this is painful, interfering with my life and work. I wear cotton gloves and socks at times, then other times they seem to make it worse. I have researched and can't come up with anything. I am being very assertive about this, because it's taking a huge toll on my daily living.

Any ideas?

my husband has had this condition for years and been told lots of different things , none of the creams seem to work , he saw another doctor last week , who gave him HEALAN TAPE it contains medication , he puts it over the splits and they heel up within hours , it certainly seems to be working to relieve the the pain and lets him get on as normal at the moment .
