I've been searching for information, but to no avail, I'll explain a bit further. As of today I'm about 3 weeks late for my period. I took 3 pregnancy tests within the last couple of days, all of which were absolutely negative. I've been late for my period before, but I'm especially concerned this time because not only is my period late, but my breasts feel much firmer than they have previously. This may be bizarre, but they have a more 'water balloon feel' to them than they have in the past. As well, they are not sore at all, which is weird because they're usually a bit tender on the sides. I've also noticed that my vagina has been quite itchy and a lot drier than normal for the past month. On top of this, my sex drive is way down.
Some additional info: I was taking birth control, but went off it about 4 months ago. The past few months, my period has been fluctuating by a day or two, but nothing else out of the ordinary. As well, I have Alopecia, and for the past four months have been taking low doses of methotrexate and prednisone to attempt to stimulate hair growth. Not sure if any of these factors could be playing a role.
I also better mention that I am sexually active. Since going off of my birth control 4 months ago, my boyfriend and I have just been using condoms. We've never had one break or have a hole in it, and have never had unprotected sex, so I really don't think this is pregnancy. I go to university, so at first I figured it was stress, but I've since finished exams and am currently on vacation. Plus I've heard of stress delaying a pregnancy, but never of changing the breasts. I'm in a small town over the holidays, and can't get in to see a doctor until after Christmas, so I'm really hoping for someone to shed some light on some possible problems, to put my mind at ease while I wait to see a doctor.

Hi honey! I'm 100% sure you aren't pregnant! But I do have some thoughts about what is going on with you! 1st of all I am sure you have been tested for your Thyroid is that right? If so were there any abnormalities? Also the 2 drugs you are on, I couldn't find anything that would match you having a missed periods, so is that the only medication you are on? Also have you had your hormones checked in the last year, and what BCP were you on? I can hopefully help you get to the bottom of this with your answers OK? Good luck and healht!
I did have my thyroid checked back in March of 09. As far as I know everything was normal (at least normal enough not to consider my thyroid the cause of my condition). The prednisone and metho are the only drugs I've been on steadily since August, but in the past week have stopped taking both (OK'd by Dr). Now that I think of it, I did take some antibiotics in October for a chesty cough, but I have gotten my period once since taking them. I haven't had my hormone levels checked. Up until now the Doctors I've been seeing have been pretty adverse to testing my blood for hormone levels, despite my requests. I hadn't really thought much of it until my missed period this month, which has got me freaking out and praying that there is a better explanation for my symptoms than pregnancy.
Before I started taking the prednisone and metho in August, I was on Try-cyclen Lo. I had been taking that for about a year and a half prior to that.
Thank you so much for trying to help me out. I guess I just want some peace of mind until I can get in to see the Dr after the holidays.

This is just some information for future readers who may stumble across this information. Both methotrexate and predinosine can cause menstral irregularities. In fact methotrexate is a pregnancy category x drug which causes miscarriage and methotrexate is a medication that is used for abortions. Please if you read blogs do your own research and investigate everything that people reply to. Not trying to be mean or rude just stating the facts
