I am still thinking about which type of dog to get - I want one that is loyal, non aggressive, great with kids, active and energetic and a real companion. I like the way the husky looks, but I have only ever really seen them on television. I am also concerned about the dog's life expectancy - I am not opposed to get a dog out of a shelter, but I do want to know the dog will be with tje family for a long time.
A husky sounds about right for you, however have you looked into a Chesapeake?
Chessies are amazing dogs and do excellent in cold or warm climates. A husky can adapt to a warmer climate, but they do love the cold. I've had a husky/chessy before and he had the husky coat.
The life expectancy depends on the dog. I think huskies are supposed to live for about 12-15 years, because they are a medium sized dog, but it depends on diet, exercise, etc. Just like us. For us to live longer we have to take care of ourselves.
