I AM 26 AND HAD MY TUBES TIED ON THE SAME DAY I HAD MY THIRD CHILDREN (VIA C-SECTION). I AM BEYOND UPSET WITH MYSELF. I REGRET IT EVERYTIME I HAVE A IRREGULAR CYCLE. I HAD A CYCLE 4 A MONTH IN A HALF. I WAS PUT ON DEPO-PROVERA TO HELP REGULATE IT. IT DOES 4 ONLY 2 MONTHS UNTIL ITS TIME 4 MY NEXT SHOT. I HAVE TURNT INTO A COMPLETED B****H. IM ALWAYS MOODY, EASILY IRRITATED. I CAN HAVE SEX 4 A WHOLE MONTH NOW, AS MUCH AS I LIKE CAUSE I SPOT OR HAVE A CYCLE 4 A WHOLE MONTH. IM FEELING INSECURE ABOUT MYSELF NOW. I ONLY GOT MY TUBAL LIGATION BECAUSE I WAS N A D.V SITUATION AND DIDNT WANT ANOTHER CHILD BY THAT MAN. ALSO PARINOID THAT IF I EVER GOT PREGNANT AGAIN THE FATHER MIGHT B A LOSER TOO. I DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT (EMPHASIZES ON THE DO NOT), SUGGEST ANYONE HAVE THIS PROCEDURE DONE. IF U DONT WANNA HAVE KIDS THEN STAY FIRM ON NOT GETTING PREGNANT. YES ACCIDENTS HAPPENS. I AM SO MISERABLE NOW. IM SNAPPING AT ALL THE WRONG PEOPLE. I WAS A VERY SWEET AND FUN INDIVIDUAL BUT I FEEL LIKE SOME OF MY PERSONALITY WAS ROBBED FROM ME.

hi stika, well i had this procedure done like about three years ago and i have not had any drastic changes only at the begining i had a minor presure pain near my belly botton but it when away that was just due to the procedure and my period actually became more stable and not to heavy so i think every woman is different. but if u and ur husban are 100% sure u want no more kids go ahead and do it u both must agree i myself am married and i have children, so it was easy for me and my husban so good luck on what ever decision u make..
its been almost 4 yrs and i have more pain now then i ever felt, sometimes during my cycle now it's like im in labor all over again, then times im doubling up and cant walk been to hospital, sonograms on intestines and everything came back fine. so i higly dont recommend it.
No you are not I too have these problems heavy periods asd severe pain in my stomach sharp sticking pain like if a razor is moving around in my tummy and this is only 3 months now. If i only knew this was so bad i never would of done this at all.
I know this thread is from a few years ago but I stumbled upon it looking for other woman that have had side effects years after a tubal ligation. Its been quite difficult finding info. I had mine 4 years ago during my c-section. I was 30 years old and together my husband and I have 4 children, so we decided that was enough. My doctor didn't explain the procedure or side effects other than possibility of still getting pregnant and surgery risks. Well I started to notice symptoms pretty much after I healed from giving birth. My period now lasts 7 days instead of 4 days. 5 of the 7 days is real heavy flow. I get major blood clots which I hardly got beforw. Some months I spot 2 days before period starts. My breasts hurt really bad leading up to menstrual. I have weight gain that is difficult to lose or even maintain. My periods have become really painful. I will also get pain in lower abdomen before period starts that feels like a pulled muscle. Despite all that, I don't necessarily regret having the procedure done. I do wish more studies would be done on long term effects and doctors educate their patients better. A lot of the symptoms are dismissed and they say not caused by tubal ligation but I don't think its just coincidence my symptoms happen to start right after.
I am having all the same symptoms for the past few years after I got it done 3 years ago I want to get it reversed I do not feel normal at all
Your symptoms sound so similar to mine, although not pleasant for u it feels a relief to know someone out out there has felt the same. Did u have a lot of bloating too? Mood swings, stabbing pain in ovary area. Break out in spots on forehead and chest?? I am 40 and had my tubes tied 5 yrs ago. At the time it felt the right thing to do and although I had very heavy periods for a while after the other symptoms were not there. Suddenly now 5 yrs on I have all these crazy symptoms that I am finding so depressing. I'm off to the dr next week to check hopefully nothing else. I'm pretty sure it's just side effects of this!

I had a tubal ligation done in 1987. (37years)My husband refused to look at a vasectomy. I wish I had never had it done. I gained weight and had heavy periods, pain, low iron, until menopause at 52. I continued to gain extraordinary weight. Even my family could not believe it. My mother said there was something wrong. 2012 I had a polyp removed but there was thickeningv of the endometrium. Now I have endometrial cancer.
