I've also been dealing with the same thing for almost 5 years. It started out intermittently, where I wouldn't get the pain every time. But now, I get the pain in my lower abdomen even if I get a little turned on. I wake up in the middle of the night if I have a sexual dream and writhe in pain. Every time I get it i feel like I'm going to throw up, and have to have a bowel movement. If I get up and force myself to go to the bathroom, I feel a little better. But it's been awful for my husband and I. He's afraid to touch me at all because I just sob uncontrollably from the awful pain.

I've had a colonoscopy, endoscopy, laproscopic exploratory surgery, a D & C, MANY MANY internal & external ultrasounds and they've found nothing. The only thing that has EVER helped is acupuncture. But even that didn't last. The pain came back.

I was ready to give up. But some more web searching and I found a doctor in Phoenix (2 hours away from me) that specializes in women's pelvic pain and finding the cause. I'm going to see him in October.

I want to say this ladies..>DONT GIVE UP ON YOURSELF!!! Keep searching! There are SO many of us that are experiencing the same thing. Someone has to find an answer.

I'll report back after my appointment.

I've been sexually active since 16 yrs old, I'm now about to be 28, the pain started about 5 years ago. It started out minor, still painful, now it's excruciating. When it first started I went to my gynie and she told me "sucks to be you" wtf! Then she set me up for an ultrasound...they found nothing. Five yrs later, not sexually active for 1 of those years, had lots of rest, when I did have sex again it was still painful, then there was months between and still painful...I've had it...now it's happening when my fiance is just kissing on my neck or other hot spots. I wake up in the middle of the night, after having a dream about sex, with this same pain! As well as, I was at work, had to pee couldn't go bc I was extremely busy...so I held it for about a 1/2 hr, same pain in my lower abdomen, laid curled in a ball on the office floor. Found a new gynie that I love...she's amazing (couldn't believe it when I told her, she laughed, then seeing how serious I was about she got more serious) her new goal is to help me! So when I find out I'll let you all know. She did mention about the muscle spasm as well so we'll see! X our fingers girls!

Ok, I know this was over a year ago, but BOY am I am glad to hear I am not the only one, although, I am not encouraged by what I am reading because it does not look like there is any solution. I am also experiencing the same sharp pain during orgasm. Though it is not unbearable. I actually notice it a little when I have to go to the restroom. I wish someone would have written a response to these to see if there was any solution. I also have endometriosis and fibroids and an enlarge uteris. I am currently taking Lupron, which I just started to help with the endo. I just started it, so I don't know if it will work yet, we will see. this is crazy.

I also am glad to hear that I am not crazy. I used to get the pain on my lower left side only during an orgasm or right before. It put a real damper on sex. It started about 4 or 5 years ago. I have been to 2 gynecologists, 1 gp and 1 gastroenterologist. They have done ultrasounds, biopsies, ct scans, and a colonoscopy and have found nothing. The pain now happens at random times and for no reason. The last time it happened was when I was grocery shopping yesterday and it took at least 10 minutes for the pain to go away. If anyone finds something that helps, please post!!

Around where my left ovary would be, I feel a sharp pain when (and only when) I orgasm. I had this problem a year ago and thought I was pregnant. I was not pregnant and the pain did go away after a couple weeks. It's been hurting again, yesterday and today, and I have the same worry.

However, it might just be a pulled muscle or something. I have been having sex on almost a daily basis the last couple weeks. It could be a sign of something worse health-wise, which I hope not. I'm 24 years old and am pretty healthy, active walking/jogging/biking, but I do have a bad diet. Bad in the sense that I drink too much alcohol late in the evenings.

For the next couple weeks, I will be away from my boyfriend and drinking less. I will post again to let you know if the pain went away.

I am having the same severe pain after orgasms that the others are describing. Mine is on the lower right side. I am over 50, have had 2 c-sections, and a couple of years ago, I had an appendectomy. My gyno is puzzled, but suggested that he remove my ovaries. He told me that a women's ovaries are very sensitive, in the same way that a man's testicles are sensitive. I think I have scar tissue that pulls on the right ovary during orgasm. Also, I am suffering from moderate to severe bloating of my abdomen. I have had a colonoscopy and both internal and external pelvic sonars done, all come back normal. I'm beginning to think there is also some scar tissue affecting my digestive tract.

What a pain this has been - I think I am ready to have surgery to see if I can get some relief!

I also have been experiencing the same pain in my left abnominal area while orgasming for the past 6 months. I am aware that I have quite a few cysts on both my overies so it makes sense to hear that maybe it is the cysts bursting from the pulsation of the orgasm. I did ask my doctor about a month ago when i had my routine papsmear but she didnt seem concerned and said that if it continues then to go back and see her. Its ok for the doctors to seem that they are not concerned but it really puts a dampner on the enjoyment of an orgasm. Any information would be helpful and its great to know that Im not alone. :-(

I have just discovered a pain on my right side during an orgasm. I was guessing that it was near my ovaries. The first time it happened I thought it could have been a cramp, but when the same sharp pain happened during the next orgasm (both within 24 hours) I was sure there must be a problem. I am so glad to hear others with a similar problem. I sure hope someone comes up with a solution.

Hey all...just an update.

I recently had a second MRI and they found bilateral hernias. One on either side of my pelvis. I'm having surgery on Friday to correct them. The Doc said she can't guarantee that this is what's causing my pain, but it's a good likelihood. some of the research I've done shows that MEN who have inguinal hernias (like mine) ALSO have pain right before orgasm in their testicles.

I'm so hoping this is it!!! I'll report back.

Just wondering how you made out and if you are still having this problem.  I am almost 36 and had this problem for many years.  Pain only during and orgasm in my left side.  Afterwars I would occassionally feel sick to my stomach. The pain was so bad that it would sometimes bring tears to my eyes,  I was literally affraid to have an orgasm!  Several years after this all began I began having a constant sharp pain in my left side.  an ultrasound showed a grapefruit sized cyst on my ovary.  During surgery the doctor found I had endometriosis and removed it.  I have not had the pain since!  I'm not sure which one was causing the pain but apparently it was one of the two.  However,  I suspect it was the endometriosis because doctors had previously done ultrasounds and not seen the cyst.  Endometriosis can only be diagnosed doing exploratory surgery so if you have insurance do it!  Mine was done by laser and pretty simple.  I hate to hear of any girl going through this because I remember what it was like!

hi i've been suffering with this pain also but only for the last 6 months or so, however i had a smear around the same time this started and they had to treat the cancerious cells with a procedure called the loop which hurt let me tell you, but i seem to feel that the pain stems from that and i hadn't expeirenced this pain before it. hopefully this will help someone.

I also have left ovary pain during orgasm. It has been going on for almost a year now. I am 49 years old. I told my family doctor and she didn't know what it was and didn't seem to be concerned. I had thought that maybe the pain was an egg being released...that maybe having an orgasm caused egg release. I haven't gotten it checked yet. I have been diagnosed with uterine fibroids. I'll be doing more research on this. Thanks to everyone for posting.

Hi all. I am going to a gynecologist tomorrow because of the same problem you guys have and ive just been reading your posts. This pain came out of nowhere about 1.5 months ago, I never had any problems with orgasms before. The pain starts when im about to orgasm and it feels as if it moves (like blood moving inside a vein for example) on my left abdominal side. It is not too painful, just slightly, enough to make me worried there might be something wrong! Ive never had any health problems whatsoever so I'm curious what i will find out tomorrow. I am 32 by the way. One more thing I should mention! At the beginning I thought id make it go away if i didnt have sex for a while and it really did disappear but then it came back. ive also noticed its getting weaker, sometimes it almost isnt there. If I find out anything helpful tomorrow, I will let you know.

I have an IUD, a paragard. So it sometimes hurts as directly after sex, but after finding alternatives, I thought the pain would go away. And I have had lower abdominal pain, just directly above my pelvis for the last week and a half, and it is not cramping nor does it normally happen during my period, so I am trying to figure out what is wrong here. It started out just during or after sex and now it is constantly all day and proceeds to be sharper and more direct if I get slightly turned on. I just had my IUD checked and I have no complications what so ever, it will not go away and I do not know what to do, it has just got exceedingly worse. I am not sure what to do. It gets so sharp sometimes that it leaves me whimpering. If anyone has any answers please let me know.

I am having lower abdominal pain also on the left side during orgasm. I have had ovarian cysts before, and the pain is similar, but i dont know why it only happens during this now... I find it scary that non of our doctors know what it is or what is causing it, I am going to see a specialist to see if they can do scans why Im having an orgasam? Maybe that would help determine the cause? Its embarrassing, and Im sick of it! I will post if I learn anything.
