Hello,
I need some consolation and advice. In near future I shall go to lumbar back MRI. I am really interested how the test feels and if it is painful? Do I need to do something special, for example diet or something?

Hey there,
There is no pain connected to MRI. Some people feel claustrophobic for being inside the scanner.
You lay down on table, which may feel hard or cold, but you can request a blanket.
You shall be given ear plugs to reduce the noise the machine is producing during operation.
Some MRIs are equipped with TV to help pass the time :-)
The most important is that you lay down still, because excessive movement can blur MRI images and cause errors. But if you have problems with anxiety, you shall be given sedative. In that case you shall need few days (usually 2) to recover from sedative.
After MRI scan, there is no recovery period (unless you were given sedative), you can resume normal diet and activity.
