I have been having flank pain for a while now. Drinking extra water has a so-so response to it. Well, today it was so uncomfortable that I couldn't sit still, writhing in pain. So I reached back to massage the area hoping to get some relief when I found a lump about the size of my thumb, a little squishy. So I massaged it and realized that all the pain I am feeling is not kidney related as I suspected, but coming directly from this lump! As I massaged it I felt a sensation as though maybe I had burst it and it was draining (internally, this is deep in my tissue and does not have a "head" on the surface of my skin) and now it feels much smaller, firmer, and the pain has mostly subsided.
What just happened?!
