I have a history of paradontitis, which has been painful and I have had two operations on my gums. The problems seem to have cleared up a bit now, but now there is a lump on my gum line that sometimes hurts, particularly if I eat something cold like icecream or drink something like a hot tea or coffee. What could this be?

Well,

When did you have these operations on your gums? How long has passed since your second operation? You have to understand that you can not eat anything too hot or too cold before your wound is not healed totally. The lump is most likely just an reaction to the food that you eat. Avoid eating too hot or too cold for some time until your problem with gums is cleared. You should also talk to your dentist and see if there is anything that you need to avoid because of the problem with the gums. My guess that lump occurs because something is not healed totally in your wound and there is a chance that you might have complications.

Good luck,

Karel
