Get a referral to a Pain Management Dr. They understand Chronic Pain and should help you dramatically. Then you just go once a month for refills. It was the best decision I made for my Chronic Pain. I hope it helps ....

I myself am on 30 mg oxycodone , and have been for sometime now the methadone will probably work with the pain at night but I don't know about the sleep! If u function during the day and stay awake then u will probably be up at night not because of pain but the new med. I take Xanax for my heart and my spastic personality!! Only 2 a day I try to hold out during the day and take both at night it relaxes my nerves and there for my brain slows down on the thinking I can usually get at least 3. To 4 hours straight then rest for 2 more before I try to put my feet on the floor.

I see some incorrect answers have been posted. I will correct them. Methadone can block all other opiates at a dose of around 30 mgs. Having 30 mgs of methadone in your system depending on your metabolism may completly delete the effect of the oxy. As methadone lasts up to 72hrs you may have between 20-30mgs in your system at any one time even if you are taking only 10mg per day. So you are edging close to making the oxy useless. Do not exceed this daily 10mg dose or you oxy will become pointless. At only 10mg it will be good for pain and will most likely benifit you for severe pain management purposes. But also a warning it has one of the longest withdrawal periods of any opiate. 4-7 days for oxy, 2 weeks to 2 months for methadone. Even on a low pain dose. Hope this helps.

AREN'T you having any problems mixing the methadone with the oxy? I wait 4 hours between taking oxy after taking the methadone and vice versa.
I showed my prescriptions for both meds to a healthcare worker ( forgot who, maybe a nurse?) Anyway she became concerned and told me they were contraindicated and should never be prescribed together.
I immediately whisked the bottles away from her and forcibly changed the subject so that she wouldn't call the DR. or do something to mess with my med. prescriptions/set up.

Methadone can take 3 to 6 months to withdraw from. It's Hell because imagine withdrawal, then imagine withdrawal going on and on and on and on...

I was on Oxycodone and switched to Methadone 10mg and there was a big difference in how it worked. First of all be very careful of Methadone, as it definitely effected my breathing!! Never experienced that before with any of my many years of taking pain meds. I surely can see how Methadone could be deadly. There is no high w/Met as compared to Oxy. Met has a lot of side effects, one of them was perfuse sweating. Be careful mixing the meds.
