It isnt. I been on methadone for 13 yrs and its very addicting my dose is 143 please dont do it to yourself.im in a program in paterson n.j. thats what they give you. Its a program that seem like they never gonna get you off ..again dont do it.

u can always go on a methadone clinic but the drawback is u only get it once a day..

the veterans methadone clinic gives real methadone in their clinic I know coz I was on it for 19 years

I failed a drug screen for methadone at my methadone clinic. I took a few 10mg methadone pills and the chemical make is different than the liquid given at the clinic.

Because everyone's different. All medications effect people differently. We're not all made up of the same exact components. People's body's work differently. What works for you may not for someone else and vice versa. That's why you'll get different opinions on the same thing. I've been on both and I have felt sight changes with each. The methadose in Liquid form I like better than the methadose wafers. The methadone pills I feel don't have legs that make it last long enough for me. Do what works for you

rawcussrocker , your comment was informative but, I am 60 yrs. old , been treated by 2 pain physicians for approx. 17 years . I was on 200mg. daily of methadose 10mg./ ml. Red syrup ,( 5mg / ml is orange ) . Both Doctors 1 saw every 3 months , receiving 1 RX. for that month , 1 wwwith " to be filled on or after the next month 2 days earlier and another for the following month with to be filled on or after that month 2 days earlier . So as you said it cannot have Refills but you do not Have to see the Doctor every month . I live in Michigan , but these are federal guidelines .

Something you all seem to not realize is that you have to have a certain license medically to prescribe methadone. Most doctors do not have the ability to prescribe it. Cmon now, I've been on it for 10 years and because of it I have a good job, I own a home, and my life overall has improved at great levels. Ask yourself this, why does your daughter want off of it after only two years. My first guess is she wants to get high, though she'll never admit that to you, maybe she won't even admit that to herself. Don't knock it is all I'm saying... you have no clue what it's even about unless you're on it!!

Not true at all, suboxone is the only medication that will make you ill if you use while on it. Methadone only blocks the effects to prevent the addict from getting high. So many people talking about something they know NOTHING about!!!

GOO-DAY, I AM REPLYING TO KATLEEN480, I WISH I LOOKED INTO THESE REPORT'S A LONG TIME AGO, I TOO AM ON METHADONE, I WAS A VICTIM OF THE DRAMATIC CHANGE FROM METHADONE TO METHADOSE, AT FIRST I WAS NOT TOLD OF THE CHANGE FROM ONE TO THE OTHER, IT WAS POSTED A FEW WEEK'S LATER, BUT IN THE MEANTIME, WHEN I GOT MY FIRST DRINK OF METHADOSE, ABOUT AN HOUR LATER, WHEN IT TOOK AFFECT, I WAS GOING THROUGH HELL, AT FIRST MY BREATHING BECAME DIFFICULT, AND I HAD A TIGHT FEELING IN MY CHEST, TRYING NOT TO PANIC, I RELAXED THE BEST I COULD, THEN EVERY SO OFTEN, I STARTED TO GET WAVES OF UP AND DOWN FEELING'S OF, 'FEELING OK' TO FEELING'S OF "CRAPPYNESS", NO MOTIVATION ETC! THEN AGAIN WITH THE, HARD TO BREATH PROBLEM, THAT'S WHEN I CALLED AN AMBULANCE, I WAS TO SCARED TO DRIVE, AFTER A LONG PERIOD AT THE HOSPITAL, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT IT MUST BE A NEW REACTION TO METHADONE??, (STILL DIDN'T KNOW OF THE METHADOSE CHANGE) THE NEXT-DAY, THEY GOT A HOLD OF MY DOCTOR AND THE PHARMACY, THAT'S WHEN THE PROBLEM WAS FOUND OUT, I WAS ALLERGIC TO METHADOSE, SINCE IT WAS NEW ON THE MARKET, NOT MUCH WAS KNOWN ABOUT REACTION'S FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC, BUT, SOON AFTER REPORT'S CAME IN OF SIMMULAR REACTION'S, I HAD TO GO BACK-ON METHADONE, WITH IMMEDIATE RESULT'S OF FEELING OK AGAIN, BUT, WHAT REALLY SUCK'S IS THAT GOVERMENT DOES NOT PAY FOR THE METHADONE, MY DOCTOR HAS PUT IN MANY OF THERE MEHTADOSE ALLERGIC REACTION FORMS WITH THE SAME B.S, "DENIED" I AM ON DISABILITY, AND $200 A MONTH REALLY SUCK'S!!!
